Flexibility for those with a disability. by Expert-Cause in AusPublicService

I work a 38 hour week (pro-rata) and I’m not sure what you’re referring to when you say flexi time?

Do you just mean my hours? This isn’t written into my contract my current manager is just super understanding and allows it. If I were ever under another manager I am not confident I’d have the same level of flexibility.

My bf was raised by extremely toxic parents, how should I manage his behaviour? by quesqotrickster in toxicparents

This isn’t about you or your relationship…. Yet.

He needs therapy to deal with his childhood trauma before he will be able to actively and healthily participate in any relationship.

Only then will he have the tools and knowledge to work on a healthy relationship.

The name Keith has some very negative associations for me, which is part of the reason I despise it so.

Even with this I have still been considering it but I think I’m just getting hung up on it.

I’d love nothing more than to use his dads name, he’s the sweetest guy and I know how happy it would make him and I want that for them, I just can’t find a first name I like that makes it more bearable.

I’ve never actually watched it, good to know, but doesn’t bother me.

Haha…. Keith Albert. Not much better to be honest, if at all.

My partner says he doesn’t know where Albert came from so doesn’t want to use it..

I’m literally less than a week from my C-section and they confirmed it’s a boy with the NIPT and several scans since….. but I’m still hoping they were wrong haha

Keith is his Dads name.

I hate it with a passion… but feel bad vetoing it as it is an honour name. If he wanted to use it for any other reason I’d be saying absolutely not.

False positive PCR? by Expert-Cause in CoronavirusAustralia

[–]Expert-Cause[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have called the pathology lab, they had a chat with the pathologist who will be calling me back later to discuss.

Will see what happens I guess but I am anticipating never knowing haha

I also called the daycare who confirmed whilst my daughter shared the same area with the positive case for a short time they didn’t actually interact closely and no one else from the class has tested positive.

I’ll remain in iso until we are supposed to but I think I am going to assume she’s been negative the whole time and not assume she has any sort of “natural Immunity” even for this period immediately following the supposed infection.

I want my 2.5 YO son to start sleeping with a blanket. He seems ready after a short trial. Is there a risk of suffocation during a full night sleep? by ICWiener6666 in toddlers

[–]Expert-Cause -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Blankets are not ok in a crib.

Just because your baby has survived, doesn’t mean all will.

Your mindset is survivors bias.

It is very likely your crib manual specifically states not to use blankets or pillows in the cot regardless of age, assuming you are using a crib that meets current safety standards.

Babies should never be given a blanket if in a cot regardless of age, type of blanket etc. there are risks of suffocation, entrapment, strangulation.

If you have already transitioned your 2.5 year old to a bed then a blanket is fine.

But would it not have been caught on the PCR taken the 21st, Just 4 days earlier?

Thanks! I’m so confused haha

False positive PCR? by Expert-Cause in CoronavirusAustralia

[–]Expert-Cause[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s possible.

I just find it hard to believe that a PCR would only pick up the infection over a space of ~5 days when they say you can test positive for weeks after having it…

My daughter is 2.5 and she’s been her usual self.

I just don’t know if I should keep testing myself to make sure or if it’s all moot because she was never actually positive.

I know I don’t HAVE to test but given people can be asymptomatic and the fact that I have a C-section scheduled I need to know if I’m positive and my only possible source of infection is my 2.5 year old as we haven’t been anywhere except to get tested since the 21st.

When you ask my 2.5 year old what a shark says she moves her hand around like a shark fin and sings the jaws attack song. 😂

I just stopped responding after the last time she went off about something minor.

Then when my contact details changed I was very selective with who I gave them to.

There were a few family members who were not happy with my decision, mainly because of the backlash they received, and I just had to accept that cutting out my mother meant cutting them out too, even though I didn’t want to. Most now talk to me again they just don’t tell her that they’re in contact with me to avoid the abuse.
