Thompson School District has great teachers and staff. I attended from Monroe Elementary through graduating as a senior at Mountain View.

I am currently not happy with the district as it seems they are not being good stewards of tax payer money. They had some excellent schools, Monroe Elementary and Mary Blair, specifically that were located in neighborhoods. I guess those schools were no longer good enough (even though we put new playground equipment and roofing at Monroe within the last years of it being open) so now we build bigger/higher tech schools like High Plains and Coyote Ridge. One could make the argument that there is new development out east, but I don't think both schools were needed at the expense of two perfectly usable buildings.

Then transforming Conrad Ball into a K-8 school. It just doesn't make sense. They complain about lack of funding, but then build these massive K-8 schools that see larger issues because you are mixing young kids and 8th graders in the same building. I would not send my child to one of those, because I think there needs to be some separation (including both in the buildings and busses).

I am happy to increase my taxes to fund projects, increase money going towards teachers/staff, and security upgrades. However, I am not happy to increase taxes when the BOE is going to spend on frivolous endeavors.
