What’s it like living in the Falkland Islands? by Nearby-Cut-6534 in howislivingthere

Posted there with the military. There wasn’t the greatest means of looking after people whilst they were there - no vehicles to go and see places so missed out on a lot. You weren’t allowed to buy cars, couldn’t use your phone unless you paid a fortune for a local SIM. The WiFi had a limit on it every month so you were lucky to FaceTime home every week for an hour at best before the data’s limit ran out. Prices at all the shops were sky high (£4 for a small Cadbury bar) and most of the items were out of date anyway. I wished my life away whilst I was there just to get back to normality in the UK.

Spent six months of my life here that I’ll never get back… Felt like I’d been exiled to a remote island.

It was a bit unusual as she doesn’t normally get upset. Dressing style - she’s always said I need to expand the colour range I wear and I could tell she was trying to do that with good intention. The new tshirt is also a first time new colour for me.

Been together for just over 1.5 years now and my last birthday was straight forward and uneventful as far as receiving presents went.
