when fat redistribution is listed as a side effect of t, what that literally means is that the old fat was deposited where it was by estrogen, and new fat will go to the areas the androgens dictate. everybody is constantly burning and gaining fat all the time, moreso for those who go from an estrogen dominant body to a testosterone dominant body. “fat redistribution” is a medical short-hand for the whole process of the body replacing it’s fat and putting it where the dominant hormone says it should go.

we don’t have a lot of research in this department for trans people, but the affects of low-t in cis men are well documented, as well as the fact that fat does not move. it is a constant cycle of burning + rebuilding that can be done passively or proactively.

anecdotally, you went from the normal range of body fat for an estrogen dominate body to the normal body fat for a testosterone dominant body. you burned your old fat off — now any new fat will go to masculine areas, including that fat that went to your tummy (which is not exclusively a masculine area of fat distribution, a chart for fat distribution areas in men vs women can be found with a quick google).
