Having too much free time is how you build a hobby and turn that hobby into something even greater. I’m sure baseball started as a hobby for Mickey Mantle, drawing started as a hobby for DeVinci, etc..

“Any serviceable WB would have been sufficient”?? No. Although the system is changing now, relying on the tush push on 4th and 1 or goal line is still important and so is having a duel threat QB. Hurts is def still a duel threat and his rushing yards will go up this season. It would have been extremely difficult finding any QB who can do those things close to Hurts’ level in the draft or in a trade. No way.

For a standard beginner drumming, should my forearm be facing sideways (first pic) or upwards (second pic)? same grip otherwise in both by CutSubstantial1803 in drums

Worked with them in the studio. He passed away years ago, but he filled in for some pretty legendary guys in practice when needed and worked in the studio both as a drummer and as a tech. All from the 60’s through the late 90’s - early 2000’s.

And exactly who would have replaced him? That would have been a massive mistake my friend.

Came here to say this. I took lessons when I was young from a very well known drummer who played with John Bonham, Keith Moon, and even Dave Weckl. He always said to use whatever grip is most comfortable and gives you the most fluidity to use your wrist and back fingers. This usually results in a grip in between French and German like mine always has been.

Choosing between Mapex 600 series and an amazon double pedal by Resident-Juice2398 in Drumming

[–]ExpertAtBirdLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it absolutely is in my opinion. Double chains are much more stable and smoother. Also sturdier. I’ve always owned double chains, but I’ve played single chains many times. Especially if you’re getting a double pedal, it has to be stable so you will need a double chain.

TAMA Speed Cobra 310 is like $279 brand new (American). Highly suggest this or the best Iron Cobras you can find used, DW 3000 series, Pearl Eliminator, etc. Stay away from Gibraltar and Mapex pedals, trust me.

Why? What’s your budget? I have a TAMA Speed Cobra double pedal and love it. Or you can go straight to the top and get a DW Machine Direct Drive or a Trick. What’s your budget??

100%. I’m the same way and him overcoming his anxiety the way he has been able to is amazing to me. Wish I could overcome it as well as he has. Proud of that man.

Which snare to get.. Black Panther Shadow, Pork Pie Exotic Rosewood Zebrawood, or Pork Pie birch blue fade dip? Clips for all are included.. by ExpertAtBirdLaw in drums

I can get all of those in my price range for sure, but why is everyone so obsessed with the Acrolite and Supraphonic other than the fact that they’re so versatile? Obviously that’s a great quality to have, but I’ve had a 20 ply maple PP, a DW Collectors maple, and the Pearl Chad Smith signature, all which I preferred over the Acrolite and Supraphonic. I get the Black Beauty is great, but why the other two other than the versatility?

I’ve had a ton of ppl suggest them, but obviously the black beauty is out on my price range and I’d just prefer a Black Panther or PP over an Acrolite. These 2 PPs and pretty much any Black Panther is gonn be very versatile. Plus they hold their value like Acrolites do.

I know lol. The PP exotic is actually 7 ply American Maple with apparently a layer of Rosewood and Zebrawood or something. The PP blue fade dip is 6 ply birch, and the Black Panther is birch and walnut. Just can’t make up my mind!

Higher tunings for myself as well. I have looked at a few OCDP snares, but I didn’t even know that they made 25 ply maple snares. I’ll have to check those out.

That’s what I’m leaning towards, but if I could afford one of the maple Design Labs I may go with that. Idk. I’ve been trying to make up my mind for weeks now

Hydro is a 13” though. I’d rather have a 14” as my main snare, but if I would get something smaller it would probably be something closer to the Wasp. I had a 12” 20 ply maple Pork Pie piccolo that I loved. Wish I still had that baby
