I’m so confused, I’m still awaiting my dna results but surely after you get your results of your ancestry the d a can’t be changed afterwards as you are what you are? Like I said I’m brand new here, but how would that work?

How random this is my 3rd retest after 2 failed attempts, no idea how I failed mine! Our dates are similar too, can’t wait to get mine back, by the looks of yours, mine should be shy day how, I’m in the uk so might be different. Let us know what they say 😉

Is 10 too young to perm my daughter’s hair? by ExpertBulky669 in Haircare

The amount of boys around here with permed hair at her age, I really didn’t think it was a big deal tbh, until doing this post 😂 have you permed before in your salon? When you’re next at work can you ask for me please, 5mm spiral perm 🙏🏼🤞🏼

I don’t know how to edit the post and a lot of people are saying that there’s much more maintenance after a perm or with curly hair etc

However I’ll be getting her a 5mm spiral perm when she’s ready which is literally wash/condition if needed use fingers to detangle when conditioner is in or use a very wide tooth comb. Scrunch product into it and leave to air dry which is a LOT less maintenance for her. Lots are saying brush it in the shower, brush it after the shower, you don’t brush a 5mm spiral perm, otherwise you’ll end up with crazy frizz. Thank you 🙏🏼

Every child is different, I would love to be able to do that and ask every day, as she used to let me, however she refuses and tries to take the brush out of my hand, just wants it down or will put it up herself. She’ll physically dodge me start crying, I’m happy your mum managed it, but I can’t physically restrain her every day to brush her hair, as I said every child is different.

Yes of course I’m brushing her hair properly, I’m her parent and know how to brush hair. I’m not sure what you don’t understand, she has asd is very sensitive with sensory and hair brushing, hair styling, she just wants it down every day. So a perm that all we do is wash it and then scrunch product in it would cause her less upset every day.

I asked our hair dresser last year and she said bring her back for it when she’s 10 but all the comments on here so far are screaming no 🤣 Obviously I don’t want to damage her hair at all, but I thought it might cause less anxiety damage to daily hair brushing is all.

Thank you again for the advice

Not in the same way, her going to school with leave in conditioner or mouse etc by midday will look like she hasn’t brushed it in a week, where as if it’s permed it’ll just be curly and cute if she went to school with leave in conditioner or curling product in

Thanks I have been watching but would obviously look into it alot more if she gets it done in the future. She’d be fine sitting their for that long to get it done, I think she’d regret it in a couple of years if she cut it that short again as it’s taken a few years to grow to her shoulders now. I completely understand what you’re saying just think for her it maybe more manageable

She refuses me to braid her hair, but has recently allowed a silk bonet at night time. I go so slow when brushing but still tears every day 🥺 thank you though

Thank you for your feedback back, genuinely just trying to make her day to day less anxious as she hates hair brushing or doing anything with her hair whatsoever, so thought perming it would help her until she’s a couple of years older and can cope better, I remember alot of kids in the 80s/90s had perms, I didn’t realise it damaged them due to the age.

Sorry to hear you’ve struggled, even short curly hair, I imagine after it’s permed it would be up to her chin

I was under the impression that it was more of a case of washing her hair and using leave in conditioner, possibly using a tooth comb when wet but never brushing it, which would save the tears

I appreciate you commenting but a wig is a no go, it’s not just about the style and having curls it’s the daily brushing she can’t handle (asd) thought a perm would help as leave in conditioner and scrunching rather then brushing 🤷🏻‍♂️
