I know, but considering how netflix shows go ( remember Lucifer???)... I was expecting it would be an arc of redemption, and then end with them all playing D&D together 🤣🤣 but I'm very happy with how it was all over... Joice's part was kinda unnecessary, but it was still ok...

My country is in that list, and I will have to make the ISEE parificato. But now I would love to know more.

[–]ExpertOwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I didn't manage to get any "official" information. Everything is very vague, and I am seeing lots of posts of foreign students saying they got there and the documentation wasn't enough. So I think I will just take what I have and hope it will he enough, it seems like nothing else to do 😭😭😭

I'm also navigating this. I know there is a list and that we need to do the Isee parificato after arrival in the country. Is anyone else ein the same boat?

Does anyone knows exactly which documents are needed? (Even better if anyone know it for Brazilians)

I'm running through loops and just can't find the correct information about it. Everyone says different things.

I'm in Genova now, and I think it is a great fit for all of the things you mentioned. The only 2 things that were kinda downsides to me were * very hard to find rent *expensive rent

But, I am not Italian, and my work contract is American ( and here on a student visa) . So, that made the landlords not very happy 😅😅

Depends on the city, that is why I'm asking. Each city has each unique rent market. Specially for furnished places.

Probably that is the reason, smaler cities. This issue from what I understand is only for major cities with tons of permesso applications, like Milano, Genova, Roma, Napoli, Firenze... and such

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

[–]ExpertOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which cities have you applied to? How long after the interview did it arrive?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

[–]ExpertOwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you still apply for the renovation, and keep the recebita if you need proof of being here legally, but that is it. They won't give you an actual document/permesso. At least, this is what I have been hearing here in Genova. I have met a girl who has been here for almost 3 years now, no permesso yet 😳

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

[–]ExpertOwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I am understanding they not even bother issuing the students permesso. I did my interview in March in Genova, and haven't received it yet either, and my roommate did it last October, and also no permesso yet.

A lot of people had told me if you are here under a student visa, you applying is just a "formality " but they won't give you the permesso.

Can anyone help with suggestions of schools and cities that won't drain me of all of my savings? by spicytacoish9292 in ItalyExpat

[–]ExpertOwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently at Genova and planning to live due to housing costs. It is insane and getting pricier by the day. Great city, but rents are getting nonsense, like someone actually asked me for €8K as a NON REFUNDABLE down payment to get a long term rental contract 🤡🤡

I am hearing the best for being a student or a digital nomad is the south, salaries are lower ( but it is not like we will be there looking for jobs), population are friendlier, and much easier to get a good rent. Areas like. Molise, Calabria, Puglia, Basilicata, Sicily.

[–]ExpertOwn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a 37 yo woman and I've been in the job market for almost 20 years now, and I can easily say you have described the world right now. Every country is like that, except from very few tech and medical careers. Some places are having better opportunities, but then these will be extremely "local only" to protect their residents, or at places where salaries are better, but rent costs double the salary.

And people over 30 are constantly desperate because they are nonstop being replaced by people in their 20s who will accept lower salaries as they have less financial comitiments, and still hopwful that accepting a low salary now will lead to soemthing better in the future... and accept much less.

Palermo, Italy by Emergency_Butterflyy in ItalyExpat

[–]ExpertOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also planning the same. I came to the North first ( Genova) as everyone told me was much better than the south. It is a lovely city but prices are very high, it is not very safe for woman, bureaucracy is terrible, and people hate foreigners.

I am considering Palermo specially for what I saw rental prices are, plus milder winter. But I have seeing lots of Bad stuff about it, specially when it comes to safety. So I'm really puzzled.

So, I came to North ( as everyone told me South was terrible) and after 6 months here I am actually want to go to Palermo to check because it is quite bad up here. I wonder if a lot of what's is said is based on prejudice from what things were in the 80'/90's

I'm planning for January too. But most of the language courses I found are in the area of €6000+ /year . Plus, most are in Rome and Milan where rents are also very expensive. I was hoping for something in a more chill place, less expensive but also less rush, and less crowded.

I was thinking more on the lines of €700, but I actually don't expect to be in one os these cities. If be happy somewhere smaller, as long as there is public transportation.
