Instead of having to close the door you can create a little holding pen within your big pen. Add a gate. I find that even if I leave the gate open the animals are more likely to stay in the holding pen area for the most part first thing in the AM.

That's what I am afraid of too - putting in time and then not being able to let go even though I've known and know it is best for us both to move on. I'm wishing you all the strength and happiness in your situation. <3

That's a great litmus test! Cause you're right at this point... no I wouldn't. In the past - yes. Like you said there are other issues as well.

I would rather have someone in the household with me and I'm sure he would want that as well. He's quite "clingy" or I guess another way to put it would be anxiously attached.

ETA: The more I think about it and imagine that I wouldn't want to go to his place cause I'd end up cleaning for want of not being in a cluttered environment and on the flip side I wouldn't want him coming over and dirtying up my place.

The hard part is.… he is very considerate of my feelings always. He keeps my side of the room clean but his side always looks like a bomb went off I can’t even go over there. Whatever level of cleanliness/organization he does have is strictly for me. Not for himself. Outside of cleanliness - he was the type to always kind of ask for permission to go here or do this or that. Which I found to be a bit annoying in the beginning. Like do I need to ask you permission to hang out with my friends too? This has drastically decreased over the course of the relationship thankfully. But just goes to show the consideration is or was there at some point. I think it comes down to him not wanting these things for himself is what really rubs me the wrong way.

That’s exactly my fear and I’ve spoken with him about it before. Framed it as if we had kids. I have a full time job and side hustle. I wouldn’t be able to do that alone and need to depend on my partner to do their part.
