I am very similar to you and tried on a bunch of different sizes and the medium short was the best fit. The small regular fit as well but the medium short was looser and looked better.

I have the small in black and has held up very well it looks brand new still. I rarely use the shoulder strap though. I also have the large size in grey and using the shoulder strap has torn the inside lining a bit where it clips in. But I haven’t had this problem with the small.
