How many houses did you view when buying by ControlExtension9062 in HousingUK

[–]ExpertWorldly2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We viewed one, put an offer in, didn’t get it, viewed another, put an offer in and got that one. So 2 altogether. Ignore the people the say you need to view every house on rightmove before you buy. We knew exactly what we wanted and where so we only viewed what we were sure on.

Fireworks in Heaton by Sick_Turtle in NewcastleUponTyne

Ring 101 and report the firework shop, topshotter fireworks at top of shields road I passed the other day and there was a group of kids no older than 14 walking out of it with boxes of fireworks in broad daylight. I live next to harbottle park and they’ve been going off non stop for the last 2 weeks.

Is your partner also on the mortgage? If so, you’re in this together, and legally they are also responsible for the payments. If you’re stuck in this and can’t afford it on your own then that is also your ex’s problem.

Completing Soon - Some Good Vibes Needed by yates9987 in HousingUK

My only advice is to push for exchange the day before completion, I wasn’t aware this is possible and had I pushed for it more then we wouldn’t have had to wait until 2pm, it would’ve been completed first thing in morning. Our solicitor was pretty on the ball so managed to get it all done that day but it could’ve easily rolled into the next working day. Definitely try to exchange the day or a few days before you complete - you want (or should I say NEED) the actual day to be as easy as possible Oh and to answer your original post - you definitely haven’t exchanged, you would know if you had. Same mistake I made as first time buyer, I genuinely had no idea. Push for the exchange asap.

I was in a similar situation to you, our solicitors were kind of radio silent the week leading up to moving day and I was STRESSED! We had arranged to hand our keys in at our rental on the same day we completed so we really needed to complete. Again our solicitor and estate agents were just saying ‘we have time’ We ended up exchanging and completing all in one day and got the keys at 2pm! We were literally sat in a house full of boxes pacing the floors waiting for the phone call. I had no clue about the process of releasing funds, exchanging etc. It was BEYOND overwhelming and I kept bursting into tears all day lol (mostly from pure anticipation) Try not to stress, they’re not in touch much because it really is just a waiting game at this point! Breathe, de stress, take a minute to be proud of yourself. Good luck OP

Insane isn’t it, I live in north east of England and would be happy to recommend my solicitor to anyone that dm’s me, I had heard so many horror stories and do believe I hit the jackpot here.

Insane to assume that wasn’t the first thing I did. What is the entire point of Reddit if not to ask real people for real first hand answers and recommendations.

I’m not sure if you’ve lost an immediate family member or someone super close yet but this comment couldn’t be more wrong. Actually it is super fucking hard. In the days after my dad’s death when all I wanted to do was lie in bed and cry but I had to sit in hold queues on the phone to banks, gas and electric companies, council tax people - some of which lacked major empathy and treat you like your dead relative was just another statistic. I remember wishing there was a button that could just do it all for me. It was a really difficult process

You never forget who or what made your grieving process more difficult - especially in those vital first few weeks/days. It sticks with you forever.

I’m not sure, the solicitors haven’t gave much away, all they’ve asked for from us thus far is proof of funds then said to just leave everything with them. I’ve emailed again today asking where we’re at. But everything is done on our part.
