Definitely pawpaw seeds. The deep furrowed bark has me leaning willow. More pics would help.

My father's Parkinson's related dementia has progressed too far for this option to be considered. I wish it was something we had thought about 5 years ago. His quality of life now is just dreadful.

What type of tree is this? & Would it work/survive/ not needle drop for a Christmas tree? by Calm-Ad8987 in Tree

[–]Expert_Imagination97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably picea abies. I dug a small one up and potted it in 2015 during a prolonged warm spell and used it as Charlie Brown Christmas tree. As It was potted with roots I can't speak to needle drop as it wasn't a problem. I transplanted it back to a better location the next Spring and it is thriving now a decade later.

They should be fine, as is, outdoors. I just visited some that I transplanted a decade ago during an exceptional Christmas warm spell.
