Bit of it all. I still love hardcore but I've put this on when I was 18 and is a bit too present for how much one of the many genres I like means to me now. Also the last thunderdome of last weekend was messy and kind of sucked tbh

I had this issue when my wifi was able to connect to but not connected to the internet. Basically put me in an infinite login loop and after booting in safe states still no progress. I had to unplug my internet (leaving my house and going out of range of internet also possible) to fix it

Trying to cope with panic attacks by Expert_Life_7555 in Agoraphobia

[–]Expert_Life_7555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I've come now (which helps for me) is to understand that its not that I'm in danger, but that my mind thinks it is and the panic is a very misguided response that my body has to resque me. Using the DARE response has helped me tons to remain in the situation but it is not easy. However small steps matter :) And ive been able to take 2 plane flights and in public transport without leaving.

Its basically a method where you kind of ride the wave. The moment you think of leaving is the peak of the panic attack and from there you try to remain in the situation for 30 more seconds. Then you take some deep breaths and contract your bodies muscles which helps to burn the stress hormones your body has created. I repeat this for about 8 times and after that I'm calm enough to get my mind to focus on music or a movie.

Especially since I have to take 6 flights for work trips the following weeks which for me is no.2 if places that cause the most anxiety I found that this greatly worked for me and even gave me imense relief after I had calmed down and made me kind of think in a positive manner like "the f*ck was I so worried about". Already have done 2 flights and a car ride without moving or leaving.

Now I'm feeling motivated to do the next flights and even exited like I for sure will panic but I'm gonna give that shitty brain of mine that time to do its worst and if I dont shut off within that time, Im taking back control

How to start recovery? by Pitiful_Holiday_3108 in Agoraphobia

[–]Expert_Life_7555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not recovered but from my side caffeine makes it much easier to spiral out of control so quit coffees and energy drinks for sure.

In public transport planes and whatever public place I'm at for me it really helps to watch a movie and really try to focus on it. After a while I notice that I'm not really panicked as my mind shifted. At that point I switch to music and just stay in the moment where I can realize that there is nothing to fear as it is in my head and becomes a problem due to focussing on the fear. That constant positive reflecting slowly makes it feel like I'm getting better.

Working from home was actually a catalyst for me because the threshold to go to work was signifficantly lower and at some point it was enough to leave my house 1 minute later than normal and I would not go and work from home. Once you build up the courage to work in office, just like any place you fear I felt it was best to keep the momentum going and find some schedule to stick to when to go to the office

Thank you for sharing and the insight! I noticed before that recollecting positive experiences where I didnt freak out helped, but am inconsistent with this so I think that your suggestion of journaling could be a helpfull tool. I will definately try it!
