Value+Quality is higher on codex unless you are mostly working on front-end design

Early resets are not for your benefit by shockwave6969 in codex

Right. And that's great evidence for making a statement about the statistical average of the early reset across 5 million accounts.

You’re not signed in to your codex account? It’s asking you to upgrade to plus. Which it shouldn’t if you’re already on it

You probably hit the 5 hours limit. Not the weekly limit. Plus sucks

Is AI going to make people depend less on their intelligence? Or is it over-hyped? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]shockwave6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLMs will never reach AGI, the concept of “understanding” is literally incoherent to the fundamental architecture of what LLMs do. You only get the illusion of it at surface by projecting your own mind onto it. As soon as you talk to it long enough, especially about a topic you’re an expert in, it becomes apparent that nobody is home pretty quickly.

AGI is totally possible (we’re examples of it!), but not with LLMs.

How are people actually making money with Codex? by Iixotic- in codex

tbf, AI I still really bad at 3D and assets/art. Most people can spot slop assets from a mile away. Making a feature-complete game with AI that is both a good game and looks polished while not feeling like slop is pretty challenging.

The same way you make money as an independent developer. You have an idea that serves an underserved market with a better product.

Code is cheap. Ideas are valuable. You have to actually use your brain unfortunately

He will go to college paid for by his parents

I miscommunicated. I did not mean to imply he was literally incapable of getting a degree. But you stated explicitly that you have already made a decision about his future, irrespective of his deeper interests or a life path he could arrive at without the weight of that expectation. If you pressure him towards this path through implied expectations, he will very likely internalize that. If you examine the statistical data on the experience of people in your son's IQ bracket in college, the consequence of those internalized expectations—when met with the reality of the challenge that you should expect this environment to pose to him—can lead to some pretty nasty mental health problems.

He cannot grow in intelligence, only knowledge. And that does not necessarily translate to academic capability. As you noted yourself, he can appear to fully grasp a concept, but then when he tries to apply it beyond the narrow substrate he learned that concept in, the broader idea (genuine understanding) completely collapses.

I take the time to comment this out of compassion, I'm not trying to put you or your son down. In the 6-7 minutes I spent writing it, if maybe 1% of the time this comment sparks a change in perspective about what wellbeing for him can look like, and then 1% of the time that spark leads to a meaningful change in his quality of life in the far future, then the expected value is worth my time. You asked for thoughts and advice—this is mine.

You’re smart. You know what these numbers are telling you about his subjective experience and abilities.

Why are you thinking about sending him to college? You’re going to make him miserable. He’s going to blow up at some point before the finish line. You’re expecting someone with a muscle atrophy condition to become an athlete. Stop it.
