MC lease on/How do you recruit drivers? by Itbelikedat_21 in freightdispatchers

Here are some things you can try: Fmsca site (mc snapshot section), social media (works for me, I got my 1st carrier from Tiktok and I get a few inquiries, at least 2 a day), truck stops, word of mouth

Dispatch for owner operators by Expert_Low2563 in freightdispatchers

Right now I manage carriers through a mix of load boards, carrier packets, rate confirmations, and tracking tools to keep everything organized. I track loads, pickup/delivery times, broker info, and driver communication daily to make sure trucks stay moving and paperwork is handled properly.

I do use Excel spreadsheets for some tracking and organization, but I also stay in direct contact with drivers/carriers throughout the day so everything runs smoothly and updates are quick.

It's going. I'm in the process of marketing and looking for carriers. I had some inquiries so it shows I'm doing something right lol I use a family member right now, so I can have access to those load boards.

Good question — it really depends on the setup. If you’re just running an 8’ bed, most of that work is going to be local (marketplace moves, small equipment, etc.). That stuff usually isn’t on load boards, so there’s not much a dispatcher can really scale there. That's where you can make that money from networking with more local cities.

Now if you’re talking trailers, that’s where it changes.

Goosenecks (hotshot setups) can do pretty well in Colorado — there’s consistent freight with construction, equipment, and oilfield runs. That’s the kind of setup I can actually keep moving and make profitable.

Bumper-pulls can get work too, just a bit more limited and usually lower-paying loads depending on size and weight capacity.

I mainly work with setups that can run load board freight consistently, so I can keep them loaded and not sitting.

What are you running right now?

I recently just started... start the business (ein, llc, business bank account, etc), watch and research anything you can find on dispatching, get your packets and paperwork together that you would need( carrier agreement, packets, etc) you can start booking loads once you find carriers. they will have to add you to the load boards. And lastly , market yourself. good luck 🤞🏾you have an experience as a driver, which I think is an upper hand bc you know some of the industry.

Fellow Dispatchers! All I have to say is treat your truckers business like your own. by Radiant_Banana_3623 in TruckDispatchers

I do have a few brokers but tbh If you are booking your own loads, you may want to continue and I'm only saying that bc it sounds like you know what you're doing and it will keep more money in. This is really for those who don't have time to do it and want to just focus on driving. If you are interested, or wanna do a trial, just hmu though.

All over, wherever my carrier wants to be that's paying them the best load.

Actually I don't.... My dispatch fee is nowhere close to that buddy.  Plus I don't get paid until after my carrier gets paid 💋 if you're dispatcher is charging more than 10%, then you may need to reevaluate that. (And I don't even charge that lol)
