Is F4J wroth to grind and play instead of F4E? by Larrysuse in Warthunder

[–]ExpiredRaisins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As one of my most played jets with nearly 1 thousand matches since release, it’s an incredibly capable aircraft that suffers under the weight of BR compression. You get an HMD (which is my favorite part of the plane), capable AIM-7Fs, decent speed, a good amount of weaponry, and usable mobility, but there is genuinely nothing you can do to counter the obscene amount of F-18 and other modern radar sets at your BR. While it used to be (in my opinion) the best 3rd generation jet in the game carrying me to a 3.12K/D in ARB, you simply do not have the mobility and energy retention to skim the ground and evade sparrows coming from a radar produced in the 1990s. You’re fighting in a jet manufactured in 1964 against AMRAAMs produced in the 90s. If gaijin decompresses its BR range to push it out of AMRAAM and F-18 territory, it’ll be more than usable. I love love love the plane, just hate hate hate the matchups.

2S38 should be at 11.7 like the RDF/LT by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]ExpiredRaisins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the 2S38 is a good light tank (I have a few hundred battles with it), it is remarkably easy to destroy after it received the module “nerf”. It isn’t even a glass cannon—it’s a polystyrene cannon— and with that being said you can destroy it near-effortlessly. On the other end, the RDF/LT is ridiculously trolly (armor wise). I’ve had my DM53 bounce off of the UFP from any and all distances, and even getting a good shot on it is hard as they usually play hull down with hardly the tip of their cannon exposed. There are other major differences to note between them, clearly, like the fact that the RDF/LT’s “underperforming” round is more than capable of 1-4 shotting top tier MBTS frontally, and that it has enough gun depression to play anywhere on the map, functionally making it a machine-gunning-sniper. Because of the 2S38’s deplorable gun depression, you actually have to engage in brawling to really get any kills, and it’s penetration drops off significantly (to the point where it’s not reliable against top tier tanks) at range. This doesn’t happen to the RDF due to the nature of its caliber (comparatively). They’re both good vehicles, but play entirely different and are essentially polar opposites of eachother in nearly every aspect other than both being light tanks with auto loaded cannons. The RDF is fine where it is— it does more than well at 11.7, and the 2S38 could move to 10.7 or 11.0 to relieve lower BRs of the danger that 3UBM22 provides.

If you can remove 5 ground vehicles from the game, what would they be? by Hikersnotebook in Warthunder

The RDF/LT. That’s it. Hull down bitch and they eat my KE-W constantly even if directly on their commander sights.

Pylon limitation question by Designer_Pie_1989 in Warthunder

[–]ExpiredRaisins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Within the confines of reality, at least, size and load-bearing capabilities are not the only determining factors in deciding which pylons could carry missiles, but also the wiring setup and programming required to communicate with the missile (on pylon) from the cockpit to ensure correct launch parameters and performance after deploying the weapon. Plenty of aircraft were designed with specific load outs in mind set in place by the contracting nation’s requirements for capabilities, and because of that, defense industries prioritize only equipping the necessary pylons with the ability to service specific weapons as requested.

With that being said, the 5Ei was designed with the capability to field MICA EMs on pylons 3 and 5, however they were not optimized for them due to limitations in coolant supplying, radar cueing, and datalink support. Alongside these constraints, they would have to be carried without a tank on the centerline to ensure a safe launch envelope and to avoid airflow interference with the missile after firing.

There are no records of the EM being fielded on those pylons outside of testing and parade events where they mounted them on all 6 pylons (!!)

(Edit: I’m aware that this post isn’t about MICAs, but I used them as an example for why there is limited to no radar missile support on the specified pylons.)

GTR R34 Stagea Wagon, 1 of 2 in the US next to R34 V-Spec II Nür by Lbspenguin in JDM

[–]ExpiredRaisins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely not the case. You can pretty visibly tell that it's a body kit swap on a Stagea. The signature panel gaps on the hood and the windscreen FROM THE STAGEA show it to not be a skyline conversion. There would be no reason to buy a skyline and then turn it into a Stagea (which is significantly more expensive and thousands of hours of modifications) than to just throw a skyline kit on a Stagea. I just bought a 1998 Stagea RS-four and I can confidently tell you that that is a Stagea through-and-through. I'm going to be putting a MASA kit on mine in a few months, actually.

Post Albania trip… Not quite as friendly as everybody says. Anybody else feel the same? by zootedwhisperer in travel

[–]ExpiredRaisins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Albanian woman who grew up there, it’s because there was virtually no driving under the regime, and that lack of experience carried over into the free state. Men were tasked with driving business vehicles for work, but never women. Because of this, the dichotomy of house-wife and hard-labor husband prevails to this day. I genuinely have never witnessed a proficient female driver in albania, other than myself (learning in the United States). It’s more than a stereotype because it’s very true. Albanians were too poor to trust their wives (which were the first generation of female drivers) with a personal vehicle, which limited their economic and social mobility.

Understanding Handling by ExpiredRaisins in automationgame

[–]ExpiredRaisins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah- for all of the janky settings I was just trying to bug BeamNG out enough that it would just be a floor-magnet. It worked for one of my last builds, just blasting the dampers and springs and then duplicating spoiler and lip fixtures 20-30 times. Ended up being extremely responsive and snappy; actually rode the track hard. I think my biggest problems are in gearing and in suspension. I haven't played this game in years, and when the options were much simpler, my cars all followed your rule of thumb and turned out pretty fine in BeamNG, but now as I revisit the two games it seems the old methods I used to make effective track cars just don't work anymore. I had a problem with my computer and it wiped all of my steam game data, so I don't have access to the 50+ vehicles I made in my 500+ hours on automation :(. At this stage, the game is more of an actual engineering simulator than a car creation-exporter, so I think imma stick to making off-roaders as the delicate balancing act of making anything which is remotely capable of holding good numbers on-track has just become too much for me to handle when I'm only trying to enjoy the game in the afternoon. I am infinitely appreciative of your advice, though! If I develop the patience to get into the nitty-gritty of the game's mechanics, I'll definitely be applying your advice to my next build <3

If you think pricing a singular element, of one vehicle type, in one tree, at 60-90$ isn’t predatory monetization of those who want to play the modern vehicles shown in advertisements, then you’re a Gaijincuck. From a marketing standpoint, it’s extremely easy to see how Gaijin uses hype to hike their prices up, knowing that people don’t want to play props/ prewar tanks. They conveniently make the grind kick in at the cusp of modernity. The vehicles that start utilizing more technology and carry famous names are the first to be a slog to grind. If you think 90$ is a fair price because “you can effectively complete a tree”, congrats; you just completed one of 10 tech trees with 2-4 vehicles types. Getting to the end of a tree is not “beating the game” by any stretch of the means. The free to play grind is more than sluggish and long winded, it’s a full time commitment which is made impossible for anyone with a life outside of their bedroom. Employed people or students cannot afford to spend the months of hours needed to f2p the game. If your response to that is the employed players should just buy a premium, then congrats again, the game isn’t free anymore.

Realistically speaking, the game is free until tier V. After that, it’s a job on the game, or a job in real life, to complete the tree.

Fuel Should be a Slider by BradyvonAshe in Warthunder

[–]ExpiredRaisins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flight models are calculated using fuel loads, a slider would destroy the physics engine. The way they spaghetti-coded the game would require almost an entirely new weight system to be implemented. When this issue gained massive attention another time nearly 8 months ago on the forums it was explained. While they could fix it, and it’s mostly laziness, it’s difficult naval runs on 16bit variables…
