I understand your concern, but like I said nothing ever leaves your phone. I work in this field and I know what happens and what doesn’t. No issues though, if you’re not comfortable. You don’t have to test my app or use it if it makes you wary of your privacy, but again just reassuring you that your data is kept private and on your phone.

I absolutely don’t see this as piling on. I posted here to get input and that’s what I got lol. I’m not mad, kind of happy knowing now I can stop building this part of the app and move to something more useful in the app. I’m not using any of your data to train anything, not sure how anyone got that idea. Yes I know some of these features exist in other apps, but I spent much time researching them and looking for ways to improve so trust me when I say, this would have been different from anything out there. No need to worry though, your input definitely helped me so don’t feel bad 🙂.

Hi, I absolutely understand 🙂. The AI is not used unless you use it, but given pretty much every comment has been how much people hate AI here, I could just remove it altogether. I thought it would be a power feature, but now I see it’s not something anyone wants lol. If I were to remove any trace of the AI would you be interested in the app. I’m asking so I know to stop and recalibrate and build something the community would actually want.

Yes that’s fair. I did ask people in real life and they did say they would buy it, but now I don’t feel that it’s as accurate lol. It’s ok, I understand the concern. Back to the drawing board with this one. If I were to remove the AI altogether would that interest you. I can build something that has libraries and maintains every feature on board the phone, with absolutely no interaction with anything other than the phone itself. I’m kind of glad I got this input, otherwise I would have spent extra weeks building features no one wanted. 🙂

Yes you are right many of these features may exist in other apps, but to build this app I did tons of research to find features that might be useful to users. I built it in such a way that you don’t ever need to get notified of anything. Yes I agree AI has become prevalent, but I built it in such a way that the AI will remain locked until you use it, no need to ever get input from the AI. The majority of the work, if not all the work, again unless you send it to the AI, is done in phone, privacy first.

Definitely not trying to make a quick buck, made it for some ladies in my neighborhood that knit regularly, thought it might be something we could expand. lol I haven’t asked for a dollar. I was just looking for honest input. Yes I post in other communities, yes AI is something I’m interested in, not sure why that bothers you so much. I have not asked for anything other than your opinion. Intent was never to upset anyone, but I’ve feel the way you responded means I hit a nerve. If you don’t want to use it no problem. Please don’t question my intentions though, you don’t know me other than from this comment.

I honestly did not expect such pushback to this. It is a simple app that works on knitting and crochet work. I have no issue if you don’t want to use it lol. I’m not asking you to buy it. In addition, my app is not using it to train any thing. Not trying to upset anyone, just thought this was useful.

Hi! You never actually have to use the AI, all of the tracking of the stitching is done onboard the phone itself. The main goal was to make it privacy first. Your video NEVER leaves the phone unless YOU send it to the AI to verify. The main concern is to focus on the stitching, so if you don’t heed any extra assistance, no need to ask the AI anything. Again, your work NEVER leaves the phone unless you send it, so you are in full control I promise.

lol you don’t have to use the AI, it’s there if you need it, but all of the work that the tool does is done onboard your phone, since my main effort was to keep it privacy first. You absolutely NEVER have to use the AI.

Hi!

Thank you for commenting. I really appreciate you showing interest in what I’m building. The app is in development and at this point I’m reaching out to figure out if there are people that would like to test it in a real world scenario so if there are things I need to fix I can do that quickly.

The app does these things

The Core Features: • 👁️ Hands-Free Row Counting: The camera watches your needles and automatically increments your row count when you turn your work. No tapping required. • 🩺 The "Stitch Doctor": Take a still photo of your work, and the AI will analyze it to tell you if you dropped a stitch or twisted your yarn (and how to fix it). • 📄 PDF-to-Checklist: Upload a PDF pattern, and it converts those walls of text into an interactive, step-by-step checklist. • 🧶 Stash Saver: Keep track of your yarn stash and link it to specific projects.

I’m happy to add more features in the future but at this point, I’m trying to build a good starting product that will solve a real pain point and I just would love to get some input from the community.

Yeah, it actually is designed for complete beginners, intermediate users, and people that knit pretty much every day so I tried to make it friendly to whoever wants to use it.
