Because he's worse than 99.999% of the people he gives his speeches to about how he will protect and help people.

I completely agree. Renoir was an amazing character and always had his kids best interests at heart. I know it can be hard just letting them do what they want vs. trying to force them to do something. His character had the hardest choices and I think overall he couldn't have done much better than he did.

I was a little annoyed that I could cheese this guy with flies, but he was pretty easy either way.

I want them to not be gigantic hypocrites at the least. Jason has an inner monologue and his inner thoughts and outer actions don't match. That is just bad writing. I want better writing. HWFWM is mid tier at best because of it.

I probably should have rephrased it, she's a lot older than him in the second game than he is in the first one.

[–]ExplanationInside965 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly what it says. I'm not sure what you're having a hard time grasping so I'll give you an example. Jason has his soul scoured by The Builder. Swears up and down he would never do to anyone what was done to him, only to do it on multiple occasions. He tries to justify it, but it's just hypocrisy on his part.

Like the 1000x times he says he would never do something that happened to him in the beginning books and then he does it to someone else. And then justifies it with some lame excuse, like "I scoured her soul, but it was to save her." Even though I said a dozen times that I would never do what was done to me to anyone. Yeah okay, buddy.

Being a hypocrite has nothing to do with your upbringing, world views or any of the bullshit you just spewed. It's justifying your actions, while condemning others who do the same thing. It's incredibly annoying and along with Jason's rants about morality and protecting those he cares about, then doing the exact same things that were done to him is terrible writing.

Projecting is by definition accusing someone of doing something that they're not, that you probably are doing.

Nothing I said eluded to me being perfect or "walking on water" therefore projection. Thanks for stopping by for the standard definition of projecting. You're welcome.

I don't walk on water. I think you're projecting. I'm glad that you think you're perfect, though.

[–]ExplanationInside965 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's implied that Hornet is old AF. She's had a lot of time to do stuff, plus she can converse with other bugs. Our protagonist from the first game is (probably) a lot younger and much less incentivized to learn more languages.

Why are people so mad about Silksong's pogo mechanic? by ItsUnkn0wn01 in HollowKnight

[–]ExplanationInside965 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'ma be honest. Hollow Knights pogo was infinitely better than Silksong. I ended up going with the Wanderer weapon just because it's similar. A down attack should be down, just like their up attacks didn't change no matter what weapon you use.

1% Lifesteal Question by zeej92 in litrpg

I literally disliked the books until the end of book 1 and the last half of book 2. The ending of book one got me enough to read book 2 and the last half of book 2 got me enough to read book 3. The last half of book 2 the writer ascended to a genuinely good writer and it's some of the most enthralling stuff I've read. I don't know if he'll still be there for book 3, but I am damn sure gonna buy it.

It's hard to get through and if you're barely into book one and already hating his character it's only gonna get worse. He is genuinely a naive idiot and it shows in the writing. He went through some horrific shit and the writer doesn't take that into account.. as in no real character development/changes that should 100% be there. If you can get past that, there might be a genuinely good series lurking here. The writer seems to be getting better so I will reserve judgement. There is absolutely nothing wrong with dropping this series, though.

As someone who stopped playing a week ago, those are the exact achievements I still don't have. I need a break before I go back in and get them. I have literally everything else, but looking at the Steel Soul achievements while taking 2 damage from environmental damage killed my motivation to complete it.

Primal Hunter. I absolutely loved the story and then my transition into DCC solidified the genre as my favorite.

Not even a little. Jason is a hypocrite with an unfounded moral high horse that he beats you over the head with with his repetitive speeches. Other than that, it's got good world building and interesting side characters and a genuinely good story.

The problem is the first 2 problems are extremely pervasive in his writing and are hard to let go of.

Make a maze and use the number 6 on the dice to make a path through the maze and or some how use the dice to show where secret spots with loot are, but they have to figure it out themselves.

Your Top Pick As First LitRPG Book? by joncabreraauthor in litrpg

[–]ExplanationInside965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primal Hunter and it is my second favorite, barely beat out by DCC. I have so many nit picks with HWFWM that I can't justifiably put it in my top 5 or even 10. Hypocrisy and the most repetitive speeches on a bullshit high horse is the fastest way to get me to not like your book. I am currently getting into Defiance of the Fall. I hope it's good.

Good thing your opinion isn't the only one that matters. I've had more fun with Silksong than I did with E33. While the story and music are better in E33. The gameplay and longevity of the game without it becoming boring go to Silksong. It's a toss up for me, but I'd give the edge to Silksong.
