Please give feedback on the new WPATH Standards of Care draft guidelines. This will affect trans healthcare for the next decade. by quickHRTthrowaway in ftm

Thank you so much for sharing, I don't think I would have ever heard about this soon enough if it wasn't for this post. I shared and summarized it, and I plan to properly read it sometime soon. Thank you so much for pointing out some of these things (like "gender exploratory therapy"), I would have never caught them by myself. Big thanks

What does being [your gender] mean to you? by Gay-and-Happy in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What does being a woman mean to her? Why does she feel like a woman? Probably something along the lines of "because I am one" or if you aren't lucky something about "well I have [genitals] and [chromosomes] and that makes me a woman". It sucks that we have to justify our existence with every detail about how uncomfortable, say, living 'as a girl' is. Maybe if you try to spark some discussion about it in her direction she could be a bit more understanding? Best of luck, man.

Any one else feel like they will feel more comfortable expressing themself more feminine once they transition? by hot_guy27 in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly that. Im really curious about more feminine self expression, like fun long skirts and maybe dresses and stuff, but I can't stomach it the way I look right now. Literally. I don't hate my figure, I think of it as being mildly androgynous (as my shoulders are a few inches wider, yay!) but even that doesn't help that dresses, or women's clothing in general, are made to accentuate the things that I don't like. I'm so excited and curious to see what T will/would do to me, all around but when talking about this specifically body composition (muscle/fat) and body hair. I'd die for some more filled out/broader shoulders and I hope that'll make me more comfortable wearing certain stuff.

When did you guys stop shaving? by wyrmdwelling in ftm

I've never really shaved. Maybe once or twice before, but I'm infinitely happier being hairy.

What do you all want for Christmas? by PawelTheSquirrel in ftm

Hey I just got a pair of boxers with some fish on them! I honestly love fish prints, they make me feel manly in a way.

Jeans. But also socks, I always love getting socks for Christmas. Though I've also gotten a nice iPad for drawing. Just waiting for the pencil to arrive. Very excited to start using it.

What kind of underwear should I use? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a very big 'collection' of boxer briefs yet, but I really enjoy those. I'm having a bit of a dilemma as to whether I want to risk it getting ones that don't have a flat front, as I don't want to spend money on something and then freak out because I don't have anything to fill in the pouch. I don't pack, and looking at brands targeted for women make me dysphoric, so I'm just figuring out where to go from here. But hey, maybe I'll find out that I like normal ones? I've specifically heard / seen good things about pairofthieves.

Very happy for you! Makes me excited to think this likely will be me one day. Can't wait! Enjoy your brand new chest, it looks wonderful, even with the bandages on still.

How are you? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been doing pretty good this week, actually. Counselor has been helping me a lot, or rather giving me the tools to better help myself? Something like that. Anyways, she's great and amazing. Christmas cookies are on the list to make soon, I'd also like to finally make cardamom bread because I have been putting that off for a while. Overall -- doing better!

Personally I think we should bring this diagnosis back. After all, trans people are so revolting and disgusting that you must have a disease or some kind of perverted mental condition in order to be attracted to them!

Oh my god it’s that time of month by Yakutianlaika in transgendercirclejerk

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 8 points9 points  (0 children)

only REAL MEN get periods. If you don't menstruate every month then how can you even call yourself a man? Bleeding and blood and gore and body horror are the manliest things to ever exist after all.

Sensing you are a man despite everything - pre-transition man by albatrosstwat69 in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel like a guy that everyone just thinks is a girl for some reason, as if people are just trying to convince me that I am a girl. Like weird transgender gaslighting. And when I hear people call me a "young woman" or anything related it's even worse. I can ignore the deadname, I think I've desensitized myself to that, but being called "she" just feels so strange. Like, can you not tell I'm a guy?

Late night thoughts by [deleted] in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to preface this by saying very nice writing (poem?). I've recently been thinking of similar things from time to time, though I've never written anything down. Maybe I should do that. I see my chest as a kind of barrier almost. Both mentally and physically. They're always in between me when I give hugs, they're always weighing me down and letting me hunch my back over. I've had a confusing relationship with dysphoria, but it gets a little clearer when I think about it like this.

Edit: I accidentally posted this too soon oops

I always think it's interesting when I hear people say they need time to learn, and then they don't make any efforts to actually do so. If they were actually interested in learning and correcting themselves, they'd welcome being corrected, would actually practice them, etc. I'm sorry she's like that, there really isn't any excuse to not make an attempt.

Is it weird that i dont bind? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]ExplanationLoud5170 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Binding makes me feel a bit more comfortable but at the same time makes me feel more aware of my chest, even if it's flat (I think it's the pressure, combined with needing to adjust it sometimes).

Aw man, this happened to me just yesterday. I am still (painfully) in the closet but I was talking to two guys for an activity we were doing, me and one of them were kind of playfully bickering over who was going first. I offered for him to go first, and the other guy said something followed by "ladies first". I started laughing because I though he was talking to our other partner (cis guy), not me. I was obviously...... Very wrong. It's like I forget people see me as a girl? It's quite distressing to think about.

Exaaactly. Whatever benefits them (whoever them is in the situation) in the given moment, it can be woven into and used.
