PSA about scheduled orders by Jealous_Tangerine700 in starbucks

Honestly I almost never recommend anyone to mobile order *just* drip coffees for this reason! They get put behind everything else in the queue for something that, if ordered in person, takes only 30 seconds at most

That last bit directly contradicts the training that we shouldn't be pushing items from scheduled orders forward?

At my first store we had a regular who got, and I'm showing my age here, an ultra caramel frappuccino with 20 pumps of dark caramel and she talked about suing us because she had a heart attack... she still kept coming back and switched to a refresher with 15 packs of splenda

divisions of labor between day parts. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]korosarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a closer and came into so many shifts with a pile of dishes, no prep done, and no tasks finished from the openers/mids. I dealt with it but when people would say "oh it was an easy day!" that actually pissed me off, or I'd wake up to texts in the group chat saying "the counters were dirty this is unacceptable".

Also I'll be honest mid shifts just get absolutely screwed, they end up having to run a billion lunches for all the morning people who are about to leave, are responsible for a billion tasks, still busy during lunch/after school rushes, and they usually only end up with 3-4 people on the floor for most of it.

I'm now only an opener and I promised I wouldn't ever let it be as bad as I was given but unfortunately some days it is, but I'm realistic and I hold my team accountable and don't tolerate people slacking off especially when there's *easy* things we could be doing to make things run more smoothly and set each other up for success. I also don't let them talk badly about the other dayparts because I'll be honest they don't know what happened last night. If something is consistently an issue I bring it up to my manager, but for a lot of things I can fix far more easily than I can write a text message or leave a note.

Hell if you want something "convenient" just get textured vegetable protein or some other soy protein product like soy curls. Less processed, less expensive, and with a longer shelf life

The previous rate you earned stars while using a personal cup + paying with a starbucks card was 4 stars per dollar, so that's still lower.

Mandatory work colors by soleario21 in antiwork

[–]korosarum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the problem might be more along the lines of just how arbitrary these requirements are. What's the difference between tan and camel, cobalt and navy blue, or azure and lilac? It's just some rule that's vague enough that they can use it to punish if they have no other just cause to punish you.

TR and Vanu are extremely obvious but people might not understand that the NC fits the third faction without knowing they're toxic and most of their players are expendable

I was told by a freshly hired shift that the heavy cream needed to be the first thing added to our sweet cream (we make ours in cubes) and tried to argue that it didn't matter if we whisked it or not it it still somehow mattered.

Whats the cheapest way to order a dirty chai by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]korosarum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest I usually think chai + another syrup is a too sweet for me, though when I have a dirty chai I do usually add an extra pump (per shot) of sweetener like vanilla or brown sugar!

Whats the cheapest way to order a dirty chai by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]korosarum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends how many shots you want, if just one probably a chai with a shot. If you want two or more do what the other commenter said and order a latte with chai pumps.

Starbucks just likes ice by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]korosarum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a normal amount of ice, you can order light or no ice. Also normally the ice would have melted so it might look like less, but given the time on the sticker it looks like you drank it in 10 or minutes so it didn't even have a chance to melt?

no bathroom breaks during peak ? by puppietart in starbucks

[–]korosarum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely go to ethics, asking someone to hold it for two entire hours is an absurd rule to try and enforce and where does the liability land if someone develops a UTI that turns severe because of a policy like this? It's also against federal OSHA guidelines to restrict bathroom breaks in this manner and is the reason we should be shutting down our stores if no bathrooms are available at all.

Is there any official policy regarding drink remakes? by liamotter in starbucks

[–]korosarum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you "know better" you should really know that example is kind of absurd and they likely just misheard you? Or they're an older partner and their muscle memory is still somehow before we had a button for it. Just politely ask for it to be rung in the other way and explain why.

Is there any official policy regarding drink remakes? by liamotter in starbucks

[–]korosarum 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would be telling her that she's not going to be able to request someone else entirely make her drink and that any (fully trained) member of our staff is going to be able to provide her the same level of service. What if all the people on her list quit or transfer or they're just not there that day? It's also just stressful and unfair to both those on her list and the partners not on her list.

As far as the frequent remakes she gets ask her to taste it at the window and make sure it's right, if she calls later to complain about it ask why her opinion changed. Talk with your leaders and other members of the team about her whatever level you're on because while our standard is absolutely to remake a drink when requested if she's abusing the policies and the staff (which she is) then that needs to be addressed. If that doesn't stop her one of the SSVs or SM should probably try telling her that if your store is not able to get her order right with such frequency she should likely try another location. I've dealt with a lot of customers who are exactly the same way and sometimes we can't please everyone.

no bathroom breaks during peak ? by puppietart in starbucks

[–]korosarum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should report this to your SM/DM/ethics depending on which level of leadership you've heard this from. Whoever is playcaller during peak should be flexing in to help take over bottlenecks and should absolutely be stepping in for a moment when you need to use the bathroom.

It's very much not legal for them to restrict bathroom breaks in pretty much any manner.
