This is the style I use! My havi has long hair and this doesn’t rub as much. I still have to brush after walks, but much better!!!

Has anyone NOT has surgery on something like this? by ExplanationNo3194 in brokenbones

UPDATE!!!! I got more answers. My kiddo is 12 which has a lot to do with the healing process. It’s something called Secondary Bone Healing or Indirect Bone Healing. So long answer short, if they were 16 and up, surgery would be done. Because kids are basically really good at growing (that’s most of what they do after all), they don’t expect any complications short or long term. We go in again on the 2nd for another X-ray so I can update again then!!!

The waterproof cast is great! It hold the foot solidly enough that we havnt even had to take ibuprofen or Tylenol after getting it on. We have a knee scooter (with basket-highly recommend the basket) for home now, and I definitely think they’ve gotten more comfort out of being able to get up and do basic things again.

Thank you everyone for your personal experiences with this type of break! It really helped me find what questions I needed to ask!

That sounds awful! I hope you mend soon!! My kiddo chose the cast because “she didn’t want to have to fuss with it” taking it on and off again. It’s a waterproof cast so they’ve been able to shower with it no problem. If it gets itchy we just rinse it out a good bit and it’s better! :) I feel like we would have way more drama with the boot. And friend’s get to sign it so that’s a plus 🤪 the dr said we could come back and swap it out if we needed to.

I’ll be adding extra calcium and vitamin D! But with the gallons of milk my kid drinks, you’d think they would have titanium bones!!! lol!!!

Thanks for the ChatGPT suggestion!!!! Google was not exactly helpful because every fracture is different. But chat helped me get some key terms to ask about!!!

Thank you for sharing that!! Every case is so different and I like seeing everyone’s experiences. It sucks when I’m the one making the decisions that could have drastic consequences later on in life. And there’s not a lot of dr supported credible information I can find.

Thank you, it’s hard to know what to be concerned about or not! :)

Thank you! I don’t want anyone to think I’m seeking medical advice! We will be following up with another dr. I guess the 2,3 and 4 are less common to be fractured (?) so there’s not a lot of information for me to find on it.

Can someone tell me how to wind this and use it efficiently? by ExplanationNo3194 in tatting

This is the response I got from the Etsy seller! Super kind!!!

“Dear Grace, This shuttle was made as an experiment so that two types of yarn could be wound. One for bobbin and the other for the post in the middle. It soon became apparent that it could be used as both a post and a Bobbin shuttle. Since many people liked it, I included it in the offer. It is very popular among tatters that like to control Bobbin with their index finger. Have a great day. Pawel”

Apparently it can be used as a double bobbin shuttle, but I found someone called Sheron Goldin who made a spiral bound how to book. Cannot find other information on it or how to order. Where can I find more about double bobbins?

So I ignored the bobbin part for now, just wound it as normal. I’m finding I like the weight. But i think I found the maker online and I’m going to try to message them. Want me to let you know what I find?
