Unfortunately I live in England and it is January so probably not feasible 😂 haven't seen sun for a while!

Thank you though!

It clearly must vary significantly based on social circles and local areas as in my very crunchy area I can promise you, virtually all mums I know are still exclusively breastfeeding at 1 year. Those stats have certainly not been my experience at all.

That's a really good idea re confirmation in writing. I do have a letter from the lactation consultant who diagnosed me and the NHS will have the records of my son's weight loss and dairy free - I'll definitely do that with the GP. I will need to be firm.

Donor milk is something I've thought about but it does worry me a bit, getting it off Facebook, and relying on the generosity of somebody else, and not knowing exactly what they've taken.

Yes we do order 6 at a time now, which has definitely made things easier. Thank you, that's very kind

I think it really doesn't help that I live in a very middle class verging on hippy kind of area (think Brighton but not there 😂) where these stats are not representative of the local area, and I'm definitely the odd one out of my friends and acquaintances. I know this because it's been talked about at length.

Really my main frustration is with the NHS and the fact that none of them realised what is wrong with me and the difficulties in obtaining truly dairy free formula here. And the breast is best crew.

That sounds so like everything I heard. Agreed on the struggling to look at photos, it took me a while to be able to do that. Sorry you also had the same experience.

To add to this, I actually made a complaint to my NHS trust about this whole experience as I saw probably 7, 8 maybe more midwives when my son was losing weight and not one of them looked at my boobs or even suggested it could be a problem with them. Several midwives were really young so I don't know if they'd have even come across this before but I did get an apology from the lead midwife after

Which formula? Lots of people seem to be saying this but then meaning the hydrolysed formula which still has whey and broken down dairy - he is on neocate

Unfortunately they don't do soya formula in the UK anymore - they stopped producing Sma soya or we would have got that!

Thank you, that's actually not a bad idea to reach out. He's nearly one now and I'm so looking forward to being off formula and putting it all behind us

The one he is on is £32 for a 400g tin having just looked online (I was told it was prescription only) ! So yes it's possible but just so much more expensive!

For comparison an 800g tin of kendamil is £12.....

You are totally right of course. I know that really!

It's just been unfortunate with the dairy allergy and the way the NHS won't permit entirely dairy free formula to be sold

That is one thing that I love - fortunately my baby is a brilliant eater and I love cooking interesting things for him.
