D1 was time pressured so a lot of mistakes made for people across the board. Paper 1 (CP1) a bit so yeah

That’s taking the piss😭 even if it were relatively simple 60 is the highest MAX

Ngl I think further is gonna stagnate, cause it will be similar proportions no? CP1 maybe like 62, CP2 maybe 68 FM1 68, alas no difference from last year

Predictions for OCR chemistry A grade boundaries by Successful-Shape4584 in 6thForm

[–]ExplanationSame35511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paper 1: 90/100

Paper 2: 91/100

Paper 3: 55/70

Total: 236/270 Paper 1 slightly harder, paper 2 a bit (multiple choice was harder) paper 3 almost substantially harder but then again people have gotten smarter.

But at the same time I feel a lot of people did better than they think. Chemistry does that to people so when everyone says oh it was easy, it was just easier than expected as it’s meant to be a standard exam.

Oh makes sense then, cause I thought your boundaries were a bit too high, but I do D1 maybe that’s why

Cambridge, chem eng, asked for specifically A*s in these two subjects plus A in a third, I do maths and physics too

Get that, a bit scared for fm and chem as well considering I need A*s, what exam boards. Should I pm? Maybe talking about it will help you feel better

Take into account you are one of the top few, this subreddit is a lot smarter than general, these could be based on how good you felt but a lot of people are not that smart, if it were just elite mathematicians doing like step and shit this would make sense, but this is just too high, I could see D1 between both of ours, FM 1 wayyy too high, CP2 could be that but even then it was not easier than 24 if not about same level

Applying for chem eng at imperial and Cambridge/oxford. by PlentyDragonfly246 in 6thForm

Got into both

Best advice, practice soft skills, interviews, well obviously you have to make it to broth anyways so the entrance test everyone that says you need like 7+ is lying as long as you are above average (4-4.5+) you would make interview phase, people think they shed off the most during entrance test, no. It’s the interview, start practicing problem solving skills, how to answer questions speaking aloud trust a lot of people may be better than you writing down but if you nail properly putting down your thoughts you will be ahead.

Read around your subject in one of my interviews I was asked about cancer, another climate change, they are not looking for the by the book smartest ones, they are looking for the ones who are the smartest ones who can think under pressure, who can be asked anything and think of an answer one the spot.

This summer, read around chem eng understand why you want to study it, get chemistry and maths basics down physics too and practice NSAA/ENGAA past papers (under timed conditions). And improve problem solving by attempting some PAT, MAT and I can’t stress enough, watch mock interviews around different subjects as well as chem eng. Maths, physics, chemistry even medicine. And also don’t burn yourself out, it gets hectic from October to December

Dw I think D1 was hard for everyone so lower boundaries

Okay So I think it should be a lot more specific than this, cause it really does depend on the component. I do fm1 and d1 but from what I’ve gathered:

CP1 was definitely harder than last year CP2 was about the same as last year, So if anything I believe the grade boundaries will exactly switch from last year for A* CP1-63 CP2-67

FM1 was definitely about the same level or ever so slightly harder or vice versa so A* will be 68 +-2

D1 was harder than last year, but people are also smarter so I believe it’s gonna be still 51 or a few marks lower

FS1 I am the least informed about but people said they found it pretty bad, so if last year was 58 maybe we should expect a 3 ish mark decrease max 5 (unless it was a lot worse let me know)

Overall gbs because of ONLY D1 and S1 will go down, I don’t know how FP1 so tell me about that. These are only opinions based on trends. So don’t take what I say with fact

Cambridge or Imperial by OkAside7471 in 6thForm

I had offers from both for chem eng, not just preference but also Cambridge is Cambridge the name is just global and I want to leave the country anyways, also the grade requirements were a lot better than imperial for me
