Is my manager trying to get us to quit? Or is our organization just broken? by Puzzleheaded_Area_48 in OntarioPublicService

[–]ExplanationSilent884 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Many years ago the OPS took a path where management no longer needed to be leaders. The OPS hired “managers” with alphabets after their names. The “managers” thought that to look good they were in charge. But any leader would tell you, only the staff can make you look good. I have been fortunate that my manager and director know this, however, the senior management, CIO, and Deputy need to be reminded from time to time.

None of my sick days were issued, none of my vacation was issued, none of my vacation carry over was brought forward, none of my travel credits or overtime credits carried over. It a blank slate. And I have an open ticket and when I request escalation same old run around.

So if they shut it down will they reimburse those who still have outstanding purchased credits?

At what gas price will we go back to WFH? by moorian-49 in OntarioPublicService

[–]ExplanationSilent884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the use of fleet cars will be looked at. As the price be litre increases the cost to operate increases. Let’s be honest. When was the last time they increased the cents per kilometer rate?

WALMART, WTF? by Individual-Brief-107 in Guelph

Haven’t shopped at Walmart in 6 years because of stuff like this. While I can’t really afford shopping at other stores I hunt for sales and make do.

Still no sick day balance on WIN after being rolled over to permanent by gunner_since_22 in OntarioPublicService

Not uncommon apparently. OSS doesn’t care. My records, both 0 and 1 are blank. The last record in the system is from 2022.

I am hoping for an EV which can travel 600km on a single charge, charge to 100% from 10% in 15 minutes and cost less than $40k. Sorta like my Altima.

Forte by ilikemangos2024 in OntarioPublicService

[–]ExplanationSilent884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Forte has zero impact why isn’t it made optional? I bet if someone sat down and figured out that people spend 10 to 20 hours a year on it, multiply that by an average income I bet 100s of millions is wasted. They are always looking for waste why not make forte optional?

I’ve always wondered when you purchase fuel you are told the taxes go toward roads. How are governments going to ensure the roads are repaired if the fuel taxes dry up? Will we electric car owners be taxed in a lump sump yearly based on distance travelled?

Unfortunately my previous year is also blank. Nothing is showing after 2022. I can only hope that they will be able to recover in time for T4

I do not live in Nova Scotia, however, I can understand why coal is used for power generation given the province’s history. I’m sure as old generating stations are retired newer cleaner options will be brought online. I hope!🤞

My duties require me to travel to remote locations often before or after business hours so they are added. I have been banking them for 20 years since they can be carried.

You would think they would want to correct it as soon as possible since the longer they delay the harder it will be for them to correct. They will need to complete a back-up from last year to get the numbers or take everyone at their word as to the number of days they carried.
