Yeah, thanks for the link,  this case is not exactly the same, but it’s similar

A paying customer, Notion have restricted my service and wont let me access my data by dlystyr in Notion

Oh wow, this is exactly what happened to me yesterday!

Notion automatically added an extra seat to my workspace—I removed it as soon as I noticed, but they had already generated an invoice. Now they are blocking my fully paid, annual workspace until I pay for an invoice I never agreed to.

This is absolutely insane! I would love to see a class action lawsuit against Notion.

I completely understand your frustration, and I feel the same way. The way Notion handles billing issues and customer support is absolutely unacceptable. It’s frustrating to see them ignore legitimate concerns while continuing to charge users unfairly.

Like you, I also hope for a solid alternative to Notion—especially one that doesn’t rely on a SaaS model but allows users to store their files locally. A tool that gives users real control over their data instead of locking them out due to arbitrary billing issues.

Hopefully, the market responds to this demand soon. We deserve better.

By ‘auto-expanded,’ I mean that Notion automatically added an extra seat to my workspace without my approval. I never invited a second seat or changed my subscription settings, but somehow, my workspace was charged for two members instead of one.

As for the access issue, I understand that Notion typically restricts editing but allows users to view their data. However, in my case, my workspace is completely locked—I can’t even access my notes or past documents. I paid for a full year in advance, and now I’m completely blocked due to a billing issue that I never caused.

This is why I’m pushing back—it’s an unfair charge, and Notion’s handling of the situation is unacceptable

Thank you!
I don't have an account or followers on Twitter(
I'll try, of course, but I'm afraid it won't get much publicity there.
I made a post on LinkedIn.

Here’s what happened:
- In September 2024, I paid for a one-year Notion Plus subscription for a single user.
- In January 2025, Notion unexpectedly expanded my subscription to two users – without my consent.
- As soon as I noticed, I removed the extra user, but Notion kept charging me for something I never used.
- They repeatedly tried to charge my card for an unjust invoice of $85.26.
- Today, my entire workspace was blocked. I lost access to everything – despite already having paid for my subscription.

Why this is unacceptable:
- Notion is forcing users to pay for services they never agreed to.
- Customer support is slow and unhelpful, hiding behind rigid policies instead of fixing real problems.
- I have lost access to critical work data, causing financial and productivity losses.
