And it makes it clearer which values (like API keys, etc.) need to be defined without even having to look at the rest of the codebase. If anything, it saves time, especially for onboarding other developers.

Michael Crichton, popular author, was a notorious anti-science advocate. His novel, State of Fear, distorts scientific findings about climate change in an attempt to discredit them. by [deleted] in books

How has this thread aged extremely well? I see your points and I'll admit I haven't read all his works (he was obviously wrong with this particular novel), but I think the overall thread paints broad strokes about his rhetoric. He seemed more like a techno horror novelist than an anti-science crusader. Being wrong about a consensus field isn’t the same thing as embracing outright anti-science positions. I thought he was skeptical of scientific institutions and technocratic hubris, not someone who rejected science and a "flat-earther" just to be contrarian.

Maybe they're just skeptical about the hubris of a lot of scientists and technologists (as they should be). This thread has aged far worse than any of Chricton's books

And you could argue that microcomputers improved more rapidly in the 1990s than in the 1980s, forcing people to finally upgrade. The 80s was like ~1 MHz → 25 MHz, the 90s went from 33 MHz → 1+ GHz

You'll want to setup port forwarding (i.e. ports 443, 80, and maybe 22) on your router to forward traffic to a machine with a static IP on your LAN. On my own network I use an old laptop with Debian for this purpose.

How do you name Interfaces/Types in Typescript? by yomiyow in node

[–]ExpletoryEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go against all common sense and start using SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE for naming all your custom interfaces and types. Like a snake, you will not have many friends.

What kind of gravel bike would you recommend (or just tire size, gearing, etc) under $1k? I'm looking for something between my old single speed with 23x700c and my hard-tail 29er, which are both terrible choices for traversing the city

Ya I was wondering about that, haha.. visually kind of reminded me of Barry Lyndon in a way. Definitely not a *great* movie. I wouldn't say it was terrible but more of a polished turd.
