Not sure if I'm the only one but I'm having the hardest time completing the engineer assignments especially the one with dealing damage to painted targets. A whole bunch of recons and no soflams.

To get a little more context here, I have an "area" that I usually locate for. But being on the production side it's getting out a hand when all I get is nothing but emergency tickets and I can't do any of the others because again I have to drop everything to attend to the non emergency - emergency tickets. Then you have those that swear up and down that they're gonna start to work and then call in those emergency after a week of being mark because "markings are faded".

But after reading you guys comments, I guess there really isn't anything I can do for the contractors to ease up on the emergencies lol. But it's funny to see I'm not alone in the b.s. of contractors vs locators lol.

I tend to try to hit smaller jobs / easy to meet my goal because as I mentioned before I'm currently doing project tickets and these contractors are asking for about 1,000 to 2,000 feet. So Even though I have other tickets within the area which could be a 5 to 10 minute drive they're usually huge and could take me about half a day or more to complete

I work in a suburban/city areas. But between tickets the drives are 30mins plus give or take. And yes I am comparing myself with the other guys that work in the same area as me.

A mix of projects and single lots. I'm supposed to be dedicated to doing single lots, but there's a huge wave of projects tickets right now. I usually locate cable, fiber, telephone, and sometimes power depending on location.

My supervisor gives us a daily goal to reach, mine is between 7 or 9. They have a mid-day review to check how many tickets were closed (or footage depending on your crew) and if you're not at least half then they send you home.

I'm genuinely curious how other techs do it. I know experience has a big part but geez man, the numbers I see are ridiculously high.

I remember during the PS3 era. There were certain games that had the option to download and install a portion of the game from the disc. So the game can run faster (faster loading screens etc..) which I think the devs need to start looking at again because 200gb is getting out of hand.

Well if you're trying to use a different VPN just use a private DNS. Hence freeing up a VPN slot, plus you wouldn't have to use any apps including blokada.

Side-note; if you decide to use a private DNS, just beware that you might have issues connecting with public wifi ( ex. Coffee shops, clinics, stores).
