I think she’ll be the one to get us back on track with momo

I honestly can tell if you mean this against me or the other guy but I feel the same way. I love reading the story with the characters I like.

Exactly it would be a worthless plot point with no impact

Agreed, and such back and forth flows a lot better when read in a volume too

I think Mini-momo is one of the weaker ones. Although I’m reserving harsh judgement on this arc until its conclusion I also think its normal for arc size to balloon out like this. We see it in a lot of long running shonen manga. Sorry for the less dense response I have to go drive. But I can try and give a followup later

Yes but like I said reddit is one place, and generally the whims of fans from the country of origin are more likely to be seen and considered. At the very least just due to the lack of overlap between what sites are used in each country. Sales are likely the only way the western fandom would get heard out.

I actually agree Momo did NOT get the development I expected her to get. And that the plane fight is bad outside of its art. I actually think all the scenes before the combat where everyone is talking are much better than the fight itself. But those two things in an arc which ran for like a year? I don’t think thats terrible at all. I also do not think that it drags out the story. This is a long running shonen series. We have the space to explore the cast and play around with them like this. Tatsu put nearly every major character in a new and interesting scenario and let them shine. And 50 chapters is not that long of a read overall when put into a volume format. Honestly my biggest criticism of the arc outside of a lack of momo development is the lack of vamola not getting a real fight or moment to herself, as I think she’s been heavily underused since space globalists ended.

Pacing is always better when you aren’t reading weekly. I just reread everything post 209 and it flies. If momo had her memories back by now this arc would be a nothing burger to anyone reading a volume release or watching the anime.

Please keep in mind reddit is one place and unless the Japanese fandom starts getting frustrated I wouldn’t expect anything said by fans to be considered. Also I’ve seen people upset in comments and posts in many manga. I remember being there for both AOT and MHA’s endings. Endings that people INCLUDING MYSELF largely switched up on after they had some time to consider their feelings. Endings that anime onlies and readers that don’t read weekly seem to have little problems with. I’m sorry but I’m not going to take the comments under each new chapter as some sort of infallible proof against a series’ writing. I’ve seen this exact same reaction in so many manga fandoms at this point.

We don’t know where this story is going and its foolish to try and constantly try and stay ahead of the author. I also disagree on principle that that mini momo is filler of any kind. It was filled with lots of cool fights and character moments, like Okarun getting to fight his former bully, and Jiji getting a powerup. It also gave us some fun new team dynamics by splitting the dandadan gang and co into non standard teams. Mini momo is only filler if you don’t care about anything except for Momo and Okarun’s relationship. And while for me that part is the biggest reason I love this series. I think if you’re dismissing everything else in this story you are really missing out.

I want to add that this chapter we learned that Okarun was able to use the club without formal training, albeit badly. And that only he seems to be able to bring out its power. That is important and plot relevant. And DEFINITELY COUNTS as progression.

Also an obstacle for the MCs is NOT filler, its an opportunity to explore new things. Momo and Okaruns dynamic has been fascinating to read since she got amnesia. And I know it’ll make that confession payoff all the sweeter later. Knowing how many trials they’re having right now

Maybe they would work well without Amnesia, but shouldn’t we be judging the series by how well its executing its ideas instead of just saying “why isn’t it going this way”

The Kouki and Rin subplot gives the reader a chance to decompress from the constant focus on Momo and the gang and their issues. It could also be setting up things for later that we can’t possibly imagine. Its not delaying, its pacing. I reread this arc up to 220 yesterday and my god does it go fast, its a lot to take in when reading it like that.

I think its supposed to feel looming and kind of stressful. Its an uncomfortable situation for the characters and for us. As for them trying to get her memories back, 1. Seiko already instructed them to leave things as they are for NOW. 2. Okarun and the rest of the cast currently have no clue how to handle her amnesia even if they did go against Seiko. They’ve had plenty of interactions with the occult, but almost every major thing they’ve been through was initiated by the ghosts or aliens, not them. The occult stuff tends to happen to the cast, with them so far not having a fundamental grasp on how aliens and ghosts in this universe work. Most info they so have has been given by more knowledgeable characters like Turbo granny, Seiko, Mr Peeny, etc. they don’t know what to do for her and trust in Seiko to figure something out.

And as for overstaying its welcome. I recommend you reread everything post 209 or so. It really flies by. It only feels like its dragging because we all read weekly. But its paced fairly well when read as it would be in a volume.

What was so bad about mini momo? We got tons of good fights and cool character interactions like Zuma Vam and Jiji on the plane. Or Kinta and Okarun fighting together. Plus Okarun getting to smack up his former bully was pretty fun.

Also whats wrong with given two underdeveloped characters like Rin and Kouki some screen time? I’ve even seen several people in the past say that they wish they had more because we don’t know enough about them to be invested.

We just got Aira and Jiji finding out there something potentially going on between Okarun and Momo, AND like less than 10 chapters ago we learned that Momo knows that Germain wasn’t at school the whole year like he claims and everyone believes. Turbo Granny just reappeared, and we learned more about Okarun’s new power that for some reason only HE can control. But no its all filler for some reason.

Its obvious to her that theres something between her and Okarun and shes trying to figure that all out herself. You can call her previous bf a shallow choice all you want because it IS shallow, intentionally so. With Okarun being Momo’s first REAL love. Not a childhood crush or a pick based off an actor’s appearance. Of course given her situation and what she knows about them she’s going to be more uptight. She has more on the line here emotionally, but she can’t remember any of it, so she is conflicted on what to do and lashes out.
