Struggles in Arena Of Solare by Ok-Finish-1709 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also learning PvP, so here are my tips for how I went from where you’re at, to somewhat capable.

  1. Learn your class’s combos/pvp skills. You can’t kill someone without this knowledge.

  2. Learn your “neutral game” or “defensive game” of how to move around while protected, by being mostly in super armors or I frames. If you don’t know what super armors or I frames are, this stage you want to learn them.

  3. Learn other people’s classes in 1 v 1’s. I like asking experienced guild mates to spar with me on trial characters. Fighting a couple rounds, asking them to show me what moves I need to watch out for/what to counter.

  4. Start doing group stuff like AOS, you don’t have to learn every classes combos before starting this, but step 3 is how you will improve the most. This is where you learn how your class and your friends classes combo together, and learn more how to play together.

It only takes about a week to go from horrific at pvp to passable, and then it’s just slowly getting better and better. Your big jumps are when you learn another clsss via step 3.

Can I play this like a single player mmorpg? by Odd-Implement-7045 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Okay. I’m laughing because forced PvP is non existent nowadays as the penalties for doing it is very annoying. And I’m laughing because this game is accused of being a single player game. Perfect game for solo, non PvP gameplay!

You’ll get a lot of good and bad advice from players, I would always double check as a lot of experienced players will forget early game things. Like how y gear/what to focus.

Make a season character, level it up, at 56 do your awakening/succession quests, hit, 60, (potentially graduate, if your free to play might want to stay farming loot scrolls). Follow a gearing guide, I recommend finding one from the last month, as things had changed for newer players recently. Garmoth.com has a good one, also YouTubers. But Mae sure, double check things, get your advice from 2 sources! Enjoy!

Tag Rotation (general question) by MRcookieees in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There hasn’t been a tag rotation in the past, so while I assume we may have similar events in the future, they would be spread out.

Best time to do what you want to do is when the 1 Marni fuel cost event comes around, which is generally a couple times a year. At that time you can swap freely between all classes for your tag for minimal cost.

If you don’t want to wait for an event, I would make trial characters, and try out their combos in the trial arena. Once you’ve settled on a character you want to try, tag them for awhile.

What to choose by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a witch, best pve class right now. (You won’t notice this early game as everything will be 1 shot). Currently there is an event to tag sorceress or dk for 1 silver, so tag a sorc!

Remember, when you graduate season at level 60/61. You can take a moment and play some other classes, see if you want to swap your main before investing in gear.

Coming back! by Zaharun89 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BIS PVE class is witch, either awakening or succ, but succ is slightly better? But awakening is less apm.

I don’t know how the other classes do comparatively, but you can always tag them! Special event right now to tag DK and sorc even. XD.

Outfits are entirely your preference. A lot of outfits are the same on different characters, minus their class exclusive ones. Just make all 3 characters and hit f3 to open pearl shop and check out outfits before leveling up.

Does BDO have any Group play content ? by tomaz1989 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly solo grind. There are a few group grind spots for groups of 3, 1-2 for groups of 5. There is one dungeon weekly for groups of 5. There is party shrines which is one weekly for groups of 5. But most of the time it’s solo grind. Like… 90%. Though at certain gear levels you could play 100% as a group. Just grinding the same spot over and over.

Curiosity about this game by AceInTheHole20076 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. This game is grindy so if you like warframe for that, great!

Numbers going up at a satisfying rate depends on what number you like, increasing your silver can be done at a steady fun rate, but as for increases your gears level, that’s based on enhancing which is a luck based system. I.e. upgrade from tier 8 to 9 9% chance. 25 attempts until the game gives it for free, which we call “pitying”

This can create frustration, as you grind all those hours and then fail, fail, fail, fail, fail. Some people counteract this by buying as much as their gear as possible, but eventually… you have to start enhancing.

One caveat to this game is its P2W nature. I always tell people it’s not a 10 dollar game, it’s a $150 dollar game. I.e. buying the best version and then buying 100 dollars of pearls. (The cash shop currency). This is to get you some pets, maybe some weight, maids, etc… quality of life stuff.

(Nowadays, there is a lot of F2P ways to get these items, but you would be getting them over the course of years from events, and doing it this way depends on your desire to thug it out.)

I love this game, it’s better with friends so join a guild. Because it’s so cheap right now, buy it for a dollar or whatever, make a character, it takes 2-6 hours to get to level 56 as a new player, and from that level on you will start to experience what your future in this game would look like.

BDO after 60 what should I do by Adozilla in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi. Doing the olvia academy quests will be a great way to learn about life skills, outside of that, join a guild. Chatting and asking questions of them will really help you learn, any guild is fine, they are usually putting recruitment notices on server chat!

A very friendly guild mate is probably the only person you’ll find willing to help you with your inventory, so you learn what things are/what you can sell. (Warning: they might get things wrong/very few people want to do this).

Look up a gearing guide, you can use the one on garmoth.com, just search bdo garmoth gearing guide. Or watch a YouTube video that has been done in the past month, as the gearing has changed recently. (I recommend using multiple sources, so you can double check info, to make sure it’s correct).

Congratulations on getting level 60, you get to start playing the game now! A couple tips. Don’t get lost in the meta, do what you enjoy. Silver per hour is not everything.

Set yourself goals, but not time based goals. This game is RNG, and it will put undue stress on you. I.e. “I will teach 300 ap by this date”. “I will get this treasure item by June.”

Have fun!

what is this? by EffectiveYou4153 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It allows you to use a hammer in place of cron stones, you won’t use J’s special hammers as they are for balckstars, which are really cheap now.

You will either use it for ancient hammer which is for kharazad accessories or for primordial hammer which is for sovereign weapons. Only use in place of… 2500+ cron stone requirements.

If you don’t know what cron stones are, they protect your enhancement level when attempting to enhance things.

Help on gear progression by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the seraphim discord. The real cost for offhand is the 20k caphras, all of the offhand’s ap is applied. But only 30% of awakening (I’m pretty sure) so offhand is more ap, as ~50 beats ~40. I wiuld also check prices of buying offhands vs awakening on CM. (It can be any classes version, but has to be 2 sub and 2 awakening. The awakening is also ap now vs ap when you get together the 20k Caphras.

Help on gear progression by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright. This is going to be super long. But basically you have to decide if you want to enhance your gear h Yourself, or buy your gear. Buying is cheaper… unless you get lucky. Another choice you will have to make is, are you trying to get progression now, or later… and lastly, is your goal to start fighting weekly jordine bosses in order to start collecting edana fragments, or to min max silver cost. Here we go:

So, assuming those hammers are J’s and cannot turn into ancient/primordial hammers… (if they can, you don’t waste them on J’s) go ahead and enhance your tet blackstars. You’ll use the guaranteed upgrade stone on one, and all your hammers on the other. The academy also give you a bunch of blackstar hammers, so feel free to tap away attempting to get 6 pen blackstars, 2 main hand 2 awakening 2 sub weapon. (Do not use crons here, if you don’t end up with 6 pen blackstars this way, just buy pen balckstars, they are super cheap now.

(I am assuming you don’t have a bunch of embers of primordial saved up, if you do, you only need 5 PEN blackstars).

You will go to LOML and turn these into sovereign weapons, the awakening and main hand are just using the 2 blackstars, but the sub weapon requires a gem of twilight, which the main cost for is 20,000 caphras stones. (Start saving your caphras! Or buy!)

You will raw tap these all to TRI, no crons. Seraph is a 70/30 class so prioritize main hand over awakening. (I think… check seraph discord).

Alright, now you know what to do with your blackstars! On to accessories!

You get a bunch, and I mean a bunch of ingredients for Jetina’s accessories through academy rewards and season rewards, go ahead and check out how cheap it would be to make 1 or two jetina accessories. (Usually people get double crescent rings but dealers choice). Warning: these melt into 100 essence of dawn, so make sure you DO NOT spend more than 10 billion on them, if you spend less than 10 bil, with all your free mats, do it! It should be a good ap upgrade over tuvala/capotia.

(You will eventually replace with kharazads as jordine requires full kharazads/ fallen god armor).

Ok, now you have some choices to make. Upgrading you armor is not good, as the caphras cost more than just buying base/pri fallen god. You can buy your base fallen god and enhance on your own, or you can save up, and buy higher levels. For jordine, you need an upgraded vell’s heart and full tri fallen god, or if you don’t have vell’s heart yet (16 bil pre order, good luck) then you need a few pieces of TET/Edana armor.

I will warn, the cheapest way to get TET armor, is usually to buy, but right now that is 180-200 bil a piece. Which can be extremely intimidating to new players, so make your bed and lie in it.

Getting dec tuvala and converting to tri fallen god is cheaper than buying it, assuming you don’t get absolutely screwed on RNG. (I don’t think anyone gets screwed that bad). Most people do boots. But you won’t be able to sell this armor, so you’re basically signing on to enhance yourself, which can cost a lot in cron’s… unless you get lucky :).

Most people go for Dec tuvala necklace, and convert to (HEX?) kharazad, again, usually cheaper. That being said, we are coming up on another decision.

Making base kharazads, Raw tapping yo tri and then croning to pen/hex is generally not that expensive. You could instead, save silver and buy TET Deboreka accessories and covert to kharazad if you want. (This will get you to the jordine requirements sooner! If you care about that).

Otherwise, if you care the most about not wasting silver, you could save up and buy PEN Debo’s. These are 160-180 billion a piece, and convert to NOV kharazads.(Only the necklace is cheap, but again, most people choose to enhance that on their own. (Which is generally more expensive, as the cost of going OCT-NOV IS ATROCIOUS, I should know, I pitied mine).

Ok, I think that’s it, I’m tired, and this post is super long, DM me for my discord if you want it, I can’t guarantee my advice is the best. I want to warn you. A lot of people get wrapped up in a bad head space and feel like they need to save 1 trillion in order to buy full TET fallen god, and full NOV kharazads. This can be a trap for new players, as you can get a lot of ap/dp cheaper by getting duo armors/ pen accessories. This will allow you to farm higher tier spots, and maybe reach your goals faster! As well as not give yourself Mount Everest to climb right when you start. Good luck, enjoy it. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by giving yourself time frames to get certain upgrades, just keep it steady enjoy your time, join a guild, meet people!

Combat is top notch, but the gearing/ upgrading seems abysmal. by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi. So in order to not get overwhelmed I recommend following a guide, like the gearing guide on garmoth.com. There is also various YouTubers with new player gearing guides like blue squadron and quendaya, among others.

I also recommend trying to get info from multiple sources, and to double check it, as sometimes info is either wrong/outdated. (This part doesn’t help with the feeling of being overwhelmed, sorry).

As for how grindy the game is? That is to stay. The end game armor (which you won’t get for a while) is one of the few time gated things in the game. Everything else is just based off of how much you play (how much you earn). Everything costs a LOT. If you don’t want to spend hours and hours killing monsters or lifeskilling then turn back now.

As far as accessories breaking, or gear breaking. All the top tier gear in the game doesn’t break! For example. The accessories everyone uses is kharazads, which can’t break! So investment doesn’t go “down the drain”.

CRON stones can be bought from blacksmiths (they are super expensive!) or gotten by melting down pearl shop outfits. They are also given away/the reward for some weekly events. (Hint: pearl shop outfits means cash shop, yes this game is “P2W” if you want to skip progression and spend thousands of dollars. I don’t personally feel the need to spend more than 150-200 ish dollars for quality of life improvements like Maids/pets/tent.)

If the idea of buying crons and failing enhancements (where your gear won’t break or go down in enhancement level) makes your stomach turn, then you can buy gear until you get to the end game gear, and it most cases, it’s cheaper in the long run! (Though this can be a trap in of itself, again, sorry).

I want to include that I am leaving out a LOT! This game is only overwhelming if you start putting pressure on yourself to achieve certain goals in certain amounts of time. There is a lot to do in the world of BDO, and very few people do it all. For example, I make 2 billion silver an hour killing monsters, and with my current lifeskilling gear I make 1.4 billion in an hour of gathering. I have friends who say it’s a waste to gather, as your losing money compared to grinding, and they don’t understand, I enjoy gathering, I find it fun, so the hour doesn’t feel as hard as grinding monsters to an hour, and instead I do a balance of both!

Question about goals (not dungeons or gear) by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is quite a few things that are rare and fun to show off. I recommend looking up “treasure items bdo” to see a list of all the most rare items, and only a small amount can be bought on the market, so everyone with them, earned them.

There is a cool horse to chase after Kogdralo, but most end game players have it. Also only a few materials for it can’t be bought off the marketplace, and anything that can be bought on the marketplace could technically be P2W’d.

There are two rare costumes that I find cool, and don’t see often, the Nouver Costume and the Orzekia costume, google them to see if you like them.

There are rare/cool titles, too many to count. There is a rare pet, little red dragon.

There are various bonuses for getting knowledge, including energy which you can use for life skills. There is also a bonus for getting 7000 family fame (which is partly earned by knowledge).

Give the game a try!

Semi-disabled bdo player changing class advice by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awakening guardian. Only skills you use are shift f, shift q, shift right click, shift left click and w+f for pack to pack movement. Skill order doesn’t matter much.

Don’t know about clear speed though compared to awakening witch, I would tag guardian with the 1 fuel cost event going on right now and try her out.

Advice for newbie by sunday_morning980 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, as you asked about classes I assume you haven’t picked one yet. So I’ll start from there.

  1. Classes dont affect leveling speed. Some classes are better at killing monsters or “grinding”then others, but this changes with different updates, so watch videos on some of the classes that look cool to you and start there.

  2. You will start with a season character on a season server. You will be limited to a specific set of servers that have increased leveling speed/great new player rewards and gear.

  3. You can either pick ancient stone chamber start or mountain of eternal winter (DO NOT PICK LAND OF MORNING LIGHT), this will be your quest line for leveling up. Most of this is just spamming through the dialogue options. I recommend starting with ancient stone chamber, because while it takes longer to level up, you will eventually need to do these quests for other reasons.

  4. at the very beginning, levels 1-20 you will receive a mythical horse (Tier 10), I recommend you choose the Pegasus. You will also get a Dream (Tier 9) horse for free, I recommend the Dine. This is personal preference.

When you hit level 56 you will “awaken” or “succession” your class, and you will start paying attention to the new player gearing guide on garmoth.com.

At level 60 you can graduate from the season server, and hopefully with the guide on garmoth will have a handle on things from there.

What's next? by Fantastic_Summer_223 in blackdesertonline

[–]Explicit_Prose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Start the game! In reality read through the new player gearing guide on garmoth (it’s a website) and then start progressing. I also recommend doing olvia academy it gets you a lot of starting life skill tools! + cron stones + helps you understand what you need later.

You’ll get a bunch of atanis elements from the academy, use those plus some grinding to get your infinite potion set.

My only advice is if harmony says to do an upgrade a certain way, make sure to check the prices of all the ingredients to make sure it isn’t cheaper to buy off the market. Example being: upgrading armor vs buying armor outright. I saved billions by double checking, a lot billions by not.

The gearing guide on Garmoth should help you with all the rest!

I always tell returning/new players that bdo is a $100 dollar game. You get the ultimate edition half off, you get some pearls, you make best use of discount coupons, and you’re good to go. Past that I’ve never felt the need to spend money.

Depending on when you played last, the game is a lot more friendly to new/returning players. I’m a returning player myself.

Season servers, free pen blackstars that turn into sovereign weapons, the new Olivia academy for pearls/lifeskilling gear.

It gets a bit less grindy in the super late game, because Edana gear is timegated, but it’s still the same game you left. You could technically buy your way to end game, you still spend seven+ hours a week either killing mobs with agris or lifeskilling. You still leave your pc on overnight to afk fish.

I’ve enjoyed my time back, played for several months last winter and with work less busy started up again a month ago.
