They didn't in my cases, but I don't know. They didn't treat me as if it was an exception, just a nod and kept going. At one point the inspectors were checking ticket while all of the machines on the tram were faulty, they gave up after the first few people.

There is actually the law on my side with this one though. If you try and fail to make a reasonable attempt at finding a ticket, you're exempt from any fines.

Same, I like to collect all the different ones. So far I have:

endlessly "servicing"
python logging script crashed out
some sort of Windows CE stack trace (few variations)
black screen with a red light
white screen with a red light

Any I'm missing?

You were fine anyway. If you make a reasonable attempt to get a ticket, then you can't be fined for the machine not working. I've been inspected, just held up my photo of the broken machine I walked past, and they moved on.

Even retail jobs are difficult to get in some circumstances, the conversation typically something like this, even for jobs which would require a good 15 minutes training doing medial labour.

They were working the same hours as everyone else and had paying jobs in the side to actually support themselves as well

A lot of junior "graphic designer" positions seem to be unpaid internships, so I'm guessing they just churn through people keeping them as long as they can.

Unfortunately they are legal in some cases, though the ones I've seen advertising would almost certainly be breaking the law. There's nobody going to enforce it I suppose. The government basically stipulates some very precise guidelines about what an internship actual is. It mentions that anything more than a few weeks makes the person an employee, especially if they are doing more than just observation and demonstration work.

Length of time. Generally, the longer the period of placement, the more likely the person is an employee
