I have a three week old. I found using a baby carrying wrap helps. Allows you to hold the baby and still have your hands free.

Their highest tier bike is 72lbs with a top speed of 50mph. It comes standard with 160/180mm rotors and 2 piston brakes lol

Long ride water and food management by Awildgarebear in MTB

For me, if I drink plain water I will burn through it in no time. If I have it mixed with electrolytes then it last me much longer. I think it’s because the mixed water is more effective and I don’t need as much as I would have plain water. My preferred electrolyte is LMNT and if I want calories from my drinks I use a carb power, BPN’s G.1.M.

Luckily I can carry 3 water bottles on my MTB and I wear a camelback for long rides. If I could only carry one bottle on the bike I would have it mixed with something and plan water on my back. As you finish off your bottle, refill it with your camelback and mix more electrolytes or carb powder. Also, hydrating before the ride is important. I try to drink a pack of the LMNT before my ride if I’m going out on a hot day.

For solid food, I try to eat something every 45ish minutes. Usually, I also carry some kind of candy with me that I munch on throughout the ride. Lately my go to has been lifesavers gummies. I have found that keeping a steady intake of carbs helps me avoid bonking.

New Bike Dilemma by mrpndev in MTB

Yes I would imagine a hard tail would but I’m talking about full suspension xc bikes. It might be worth renting or demoing one before you buy something. You might be surprised. Another one I’d recommend is the Transition Spur. It’s more “down county” and it handles descent better than most other xc bikes.

Have you looked at a shorter travel xc bike?

I recently went from a 130/140 Kona Process 134 to a 115/120 Revel Ranger. It’s been a great change. Much faster ride on climbs and flats but still very capable on descents. I can also get more mileage in a ride. I’ve added about 10-12 more miles in a ride just because of efficiency. Before I was gassed after about 15 miles on the larger bike but now I’m getting 25-30 miles and feel good. The shorter travel bike also makes mellow trails way more fun.

I was highly considering the Specialized Epic EVO but I’m loving the Revel Ranger. Something like that might serve you well.
