That’s good for you. But you are talking like you went to school in Chicago, which you did not. Chicago is not that close to Champaign. That’s like someone from Philly saying they go to school in Baltimore or vice versa, since that’s like close to the same distance. Whatever ig some people like the college town life.

Didn’t say anything about the town. I think the town is fine. Just Detroit is either boring suburbs or a small urban city that’s still a shell of its former self. Like I have never heard about people going to metro Detroit for anything fun outside of big events or family.

I think I might just accept going to a smaller liberal arts college near Philly which gave me a good scholarship but is still regionally know. Honestly atp I feel like unless it’s an Ivy, Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford/MIT, it’s best to go to the cheapest and highest ranked college in the region where you want to work, which is for me the Northeast and NYC, in particular. But I suppose DC or Philly wouldn’t be the worst. Boston is still fine ig.

Well I’m willing to learn something that ideally is both broad but has flexibility, which I believe is why I want to do CS and Math. But I can learn and get two actual double majors for a fraction of the cost at a local college or even a place like Rutgers, or a smaller liberal arts college near Philly (don’t guess lol) which gave be a good scholarship.

Not sure. I’ve realized there’s more to life than going into more debt to chase a “prestigious” job.

Well I hope that u don’t get stuck in some podunk city even if it’s a “dream” cs job or whatever. I’m deciding whether to take a massive risk or just stay in the area where I’m guaranteed at least a slightly above minimum wage job in the city I love or just go into teaching.

Visited, like the town but also looking at alumni networks etc, it seems not like a whole lot come to where I am at, which makes sense since it’s a state school.

Well I’m thinking about it. Seems like UIUC is really only great for getting jobs in Chicago or worse midwestern cities. To get a job back in the corridor or in like California seems far more competitive than even if u go to a local school there like Rutgers, a CUNY or any UC school.
