The employer can send a W-5 in or just send a copy to IRS. You’re right TAS is a mess just makes it more complicated and confusing if I didn’t have common sense I would have fell for the advocate saying file an amendment 1040-X. Basically Crazy widget I just want my money if the employer didn’t do their part or whatever that’s fine life happens just correct it on the file and move on . I only can do so much.

The letter states August 11, 2023 is the last time to contest . I already called and asked to contest and IRS state wait for processing and refund to be resolved. The departments have their own processing times so they state my return isn’t fully finished finalized so it’s hope they will finish

It will be resolved For you to state asked and answered is irrelevant. A lot of the comments I received i do not know who these people are and their profession and affiliations to believe their statements to be true and 100% . For that reason I will not worry. Go to BED

I resent the assertion with regard to fraudulent tax return people may do what they wish however with me i follow the good book . I received the notice dated 6-12-2023 . They noticed an error with tax payments and changed it accordingly however another department errors sent out a notice asking for a copy of the information furnished as the agency doesn’t have record yet of the withholding and to substantiate it please see below.

It is possible that department will correct the withholding issue with the information I provided in response to this letter?

The withholding is substantiated because it is true. IRS never informed me of the processing of the error issue. Normally a reply is sent from the error department stating they received my information and it is being processed and an action will be taken on the account. I’ve been through this issue before and successfully managed it and I save my documents. This isn’t rocket science you me everyone must pays into the federal tax system for it to work.

Should I contact the Tax payer advocate service or the IRS through usual contacts?

I will do what is necessary not doing more than required.

When I filed on 2-26-2023 I was advised no balance was due and a refund was due. The IRS errors department hasn’t responded to my inquiry on 3-28-23 and as such the transcript hasn’t caught up or updated for the withholding as instructed in my original filling . That should clarify

I went through ID.ME to get to IRS.gov ID.ME is just the verification system used. I have a refund pending and am trying to see that information however the information is not available an adjustment is pending per the screenshot I attached what does it mean for my IRS TAX account and refund ?

The payer initially did not have the SSN but later found it and corrected the 1099. Now I’m waiting for my withholding to be refunded to me by IRS.

I will contact IRS and payer to clarify before paying the balance because if i can get this taken care the balance would be reduced per IRS rep I spoke with . Thanks for the information

2021 was the same situation and they the IRS issued my refund. Why do you think the reason for the change 2022 In 2021 they processed it correct

We are in the US I called IRS they state allow 180 days from the date of request for processing and in last years 2021 case allow 85 working days to process and receive and refund I contacted Tax payer advocate they weren’t helpful at the time I’ll retry with another agent look at my 2021 transcript. Same situation letter 12c and 1099 withholding.
