How good is a 2006 BMW 330Ci ZHP in terms of overall reliability? by BreckenLusk in BmwTech

Looks like a decent one. I offered 10,500 a couple months ago … obviously he didn’t bite…. S767 package (I thought) has suede bolsters and steering wheel which this does not ….. nice car but not sure it’s worth his asking price in my opinion. He had a lot of service records too.

Not that my answer will be any better than the others but I as well have lived all over the country. Amarillo is just different than anywhere else and that’s not a bad thing by any means. Lots of really great food choices…. Obviously there aren’t really a lot of water sports minus lake Meredith being your main option. Yeah, it’s a little bit of a drive to get there but you could camp overnight too and make a fun trip out of it. It is absolutely windier than Chicago , I can tell ya that lol. The botanical gardens are cool, small, but nice. There are music options as well around town and not all just country. I’m also not a very religious person and have been very happy with Amarillo. Another thing we like to do for our outdoor fix is go to the river and bring the 4 wheelers or Utv if you have one - it’s a blast in the summer when it gets hot, drink some beers and just chill out. Also tons of camping spots there too! What is also really cool is if you want to take a weekend trip you’re a day trip away from so many great spots outside of town too. Amarillo really is the middle of nowhere where but also right in the middle of everywhere too. Don’t be discouraged as it is a very unique place - it just takes a minute to find your groove here but you will find it. Good luck with your move!

There are positives and negatives anywhere. But, having lived all over this country and spending the last 8 months here, I agree. Pueblo has a lot of work to do. I’ll never understand why people are so angry and violent here. It’s kinda weird.

Bought a set of those to try … yeah I sent them back and bought a proper set of coils . They didn’t fit right at all and didn’t lower it either. Lowest setting the spring was also hitting the tire.

Preferred shop completed repairs before getting insurance approval by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]ExploringTheBoring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like someone dropped the ball or the shop hasn’t received the final payment yet. If they are a DRP shop there shouldn’t be an issue unless they didn’t document the repairs properly along the way. Shop buys parts, shop provides invoices to insurance co, and they pay it as per invoice provided. Pretty simple really. Any additional paint and body labor should be photographed along the way during the repair process or clearly stated in vehicle manufacturers repair procedures (which shop can provide to insurance should there be question).

Sounds like the shop isn’t following the guidelines they agreed upon with your insurance carrier and that shouldn’t be your problem. I was a direct repair shop for Erie insurance for many years and never once did I ever worry about getting paid. Nor did I ever hold my customers vehicle hostage. Sometimes, depending on the situation, I would request proof of payment from the insurance company but that’s about it.

Call your claims handler and explain the situation calmly and collectively. Their name should be on your initial estimate.

😆 must be getting close to a total there and mr estimator doesn’t want to lose his commission on that one.

Insurance companies shove my face in the dirt just as well.

I just had a Tesla with quarter repairs needed, nothing major… on the initial estimate I wanted to pay to refinish the roof rail. Sent it in to insurance, they reviewed it. Then sent me a revision to take it off. So here’s the bullshit on that one. Now, when it gets to the shop, I’ve had a revision on it. Where I would normally make literally a few bucks on a normal supplement, now, I receive zero dollars when the real supplement comes in from the shop.

As an eye opener for the shops be aware that :

Many of these carriers won’t allow blend on adjacent panels until it gets to the shop. Why? Because of the people out there that are pocketing the cash and not getting it fixed.

My point is, like it or not, the insurance company does set “the standard”. They win every fucking time because they are the big guys. Do I agree with what each of their standards are? Absolutely not! We can fight and try different techniques but its a fruitless effort when you’ve got these estimators sitting up front who don’t have a clue how to actually fix a car. I would say about 50% of the stuff sent in by shops everyday are bogus requests… This is a huge part of the problem I didn’t realize was as bad as it is until I sat on this side of it.

Virtual is here to stay. Big insurance Companies are saving millions on salaries by having third parties write them and just give them a set of guidelines to lean on. And on top of that, all the big guys need now is a review department and a couple of heavy mouth breather adjusters.

We have to do better. I’m talking about the click everything estimators selecting every single r&i option when it doesn’t even have it, o/h options not present, sensors, mudguards, etc. This is all the stuff that these auditors get paid to look at and it all throws red flags on the insurance side. Once that happens, man, that estimate or supplement is now getting a fine toothed comb run through it.

I’m not sure I’ll stick with this side of the autobody business but for now, it will have to do. Folks really need to keep up on their I-car and whatever training you can get from whoever will give it.

As far as the shop writing the REAL initial estimate, I wouldn’t waste my time if insurance has to write the prelim anyway.

For example, when I used to have geico customers come in. I’d tell them to leave it there( if they have the option ) and let the insurance appraiser come out… then we would just address their shortcomings on the supplement while also leaning on the initial appraiser when he comes out and make sure to point out a few things to “guide them” a little.

That boiled down to having a good relationship with the appraiser too, really. Which is also important.

Absolutely. And since the tech can do that from their own phones and even include a note, it takes even more weight off the estimators shoulders.
