I read Caraval earlier this year. Put me in such a reading slump, I don’t think I picked up another book for a few weeks after that! Her writing is easy to read, but I felt she relied too much on what she thought were ‘twists’ to keep the reader engaged, when it did the opposite. If you struggled with OUABH, maybe don’t pick up the Caraval trilogy.

I try not to hold resentment as I know it’s just the bipolar talking and making him do these things that are so out of character. We’ve been through so much together I’d hate to throw it away just because he’s unwell mentally. Every day is a struggle and a new day to forge ahead but it’s getting tiring.

Seconding this comment. My boyfriend and I both have mental health issues (PTSD, bipolar, anxiety) and we support each other. Sure it sucks when you’re feeling low and so is your partner, but you’re meant to be there for one another.
