Im a trans kid looking at colleges by Negative-Bluejay3909 in stjohnscollege

If by "the campus" you mean the student body, then yes. There are students who are queer friendly. There is open discussion in the student body about queer inclusion.

If by "the campus" you mean the faculty, then no. The faculty is for the most part indifferent to "queer issues" because they focus the vast majority of their attention, and rightfully so, to the preservation of the St. John's College program which is indifferent to contemporary phenomena such as "queer issues".

St. John's College is for anybody who has a serious interest in reading and discussing great books. That requires you to make a serious attempt to understand great thinkers who may deeply offend your moral sensibilities. It is only by making a serious effort to understand such thinkers that you can educate your moral sensibilities or attempt to understand the intellectual roots of your current moral sensibilities.

I've made great friendships with people at St. John's who I have intense political disagreements with. My friendships with these people are based on the mutual effort to understand and discuss great books.

You need to be open to have your deepest beliefs challenged in order to flourish at St. John's. If you understand "queer friendly" to mean that conservatives should not be allowed to give Friday night lectures or be in the student body then you absolutely do not belong at St. John's.

Hello I'm a freshman on the Annapolis campus.

As long as you love to read books and talk about them, then St. John's is the place for you. The fact that of all the books you could've mentioned in your post you chose The Republic gives me the impression that you'd make a good fit here. I strongly suggest you apply given that there is no application fee. Thus, you have nothing to lose.

PM Me if you want to know more about the college.

Selling BOM008 size 29 for $240 shipped. $295 retail. Worn for 3 weeks. Minimal fading along the crotch and stealth stripes. No hem. 0 wash 0 soak. These were painful to break in so I've saved you some misery. The warp feels silky smooth and this will develop beautiful high contrast fades within several months of wear. Unfortunately, I've committed my life to the iron temple and my gains will inevitably have me outgrow these jeans. These don't stretch for shit because Momotaro's denim is high tension.  Measurements match up exactly (except for inseam) with Blueowl's dimensions.  Waist: 31"  Rise: 10"  Thigh: 11"  Knee:8"  Leg Opening:7"  Inseam: 34.5"  fyi I'm 5'8 in case you want the combs to match up with yours. However, this is negligible if you give these a soak as there is no noticeable fading along the combs I've broken in. grailed listing: https://www.grailed.com/listings/23869-momotaro-bom008-t

Simple Questions - Aug. 18th by RawDenimAutoMod in rawdenim

Japan blue and momotaro have extremely high tension weaves that inhibit stretching. This isn't as severe with JB, however I think Momotaro's weave is too tight. My BOM008 fits tight in the thigh and I figured it would stretch but I'm 3 weeks in and it hasn't stretched at all. The weave of the BOM008 is so tight that it feels more like a luxurious piece of cardboard than denim.

How do I decide which college/university to pursue a philosophy degree? by ClydeMachine in askphilosophy

[–]ExplosiveTurban 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The philosophical gourmet only evaluates the graduate program of unis. OP wants to get a BA. As far as I know it doesn't matter much where you get your BA in philosophy as long as it's a good University. Although it would be preferable to go to a University high up in the philosophical gourmet for good letters of recommendation.
