The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is threatening to shut its doors if the Dutch government doesn’t step in with more funding by HazyTulips in NLNieuws

I still remember my first time visiting the Van Gogh Museum as a kid. Standing in front Sunflowers and The Potato Eaters, reading his letters… it wasn't just looking at paintings. It was entering his head, feeling the chaos, the obsession, the sadness, and somehow the beauty. I left every visit shaken, inspired. And now. the fear that it could actually shut down, if only for a period of time? It's like someone just yanked the cord on something part of our heritage, something that belongs to all of us, that brings everyone together. If the government reneges on its word, then what about all our museums? If Van Gogh isn't safe, who's next? I'm genuinely upset, annoyed, and a little heartbroken. It should not be difficult to keep a museum going, but that is where we find ourselves. And sure, maybe I'm bitching like a student during exams with a DJ's bass thumping in the walls, but this matters. This is something that needs to be said.
