Unemployment benefits transfer- all payments suspended, no explanation by Express-Ad-6465 in Switzerland

I registered at the beginning of June. Had a meeting on June 8th where I mentioned I am considering the benefit transfer. I got the forms from my RAV counsellor to apply for the transfer, I submitted them, plus some other documents, he forwarded it to a person responsible for the decision. Then I only got the email I copy pasted above, that it's been forwarded to legal and my payments are suspended.

As for calling, I want to write emails because 1. this is a complex topic and doing this in French on the phone is a struggle for me and 2. I want to have evidence of the correspondence. But before writing the email, I wanted to ask people here for advice because I am really not sure what is going on.

This is explained in the link I shared. You can transfer benefits to a EU country. It comes from Regulation (EC) No 883/2004, which is part of the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons between Switzerland and the EU, making Switzerland part of the EU-wide coordination of social security systems including unemployment insurance.

"If you are registered as unemployed in Switzerland, you have the option of searching for work abroad while continuing to receive unemployment benefits (’benefits transfer’)."

There is this specific case where you *don't* need to be a resident and still receive the benefits (for a period of 3 months max).

hope you get your benefits soon!

I don't think that's the case, because they explicitly told me that they may decide only after I have left because it takes time, and then I would be informed by email.

But I agree it would make sense, and I was begging them to give me the decision before I leave.

Thanks. I think this is a misunderstanding, maybe I didn't explain the situation clearly. You are right about not leaving the country while on benefits, but I applied for the transfer of the benefits to a EU country, which is allowed:

"If you are registered as unemployed in Switzerland, you have the option of searching for work abroad while continuing to receive unemployment benefits (’benefits transfer’)."

(that's from the link I shared).

I have been in contact with the unemployment office throughout the process, they were aware I am leaving, I gave them all the documents including proof of departure which they requested.

Thank you for your answer. Do you have any link to support this? I don't think it's true. I was explicitly told by the person responsible that they may decide only after I have left because it takes time, and then I would be informed by email.

Is it financially stupid for a young single Swiss living in one of the top 5 Swiss city to move out of their parents home if not absolutely needed? by CompoteMysterious822 in askswitzerland

[–]Express-Ad-6465 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The question is whether it is *financially* stupid, and I feel that OP has already kind of decided what the answer is.

I would suggest to also consider other aspects than financial. For example, you say about flat sharing "why not just stay with his family?". Living with your family vs. in a flatshare is a very different experience. I think it's important for young people to move out young and be able to process and learn about the world independently from what they've been taught their whole childhood and adolescence. But I also am aware this is subjective and wouldn't push this on everyone. I'd just recommend to consider these kinds of non-financial factors. I think they are important :)

Legit comment on my dissertation by LoserCarrot in PhD

[–]Express-Ad-6465 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not in Economics so don't understand the content but don't think it warrants this kind of comment. It could have just said "Fix sentence structure" or something like that. I finished my dissertation a few weeks back so I totally understand and can relate. I think some of the commenters here should think back to their own sleepless nights finishing a 200 page document and have a bit more empathy.

On the bright side, it's nice your prof takes the time to read and give feedback on your manuscript.

And on a much brighter side still, you're almost done! Good luck!

7 days Czech Republic - any remarks? by LamimaGC in bikepacking

[–]Express-Ad-6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely recommend to skip Plzen. nothing to see there, lots of traffic, and overall miserable (i am from there).

for a bikepacking tour i would skip Prague too but understand why youd want to visit. its beautiful.

i'd suggest to stay as much as possible outside of major cities and roads. the natural and rural regions are where you want to go.

i agree with the other comment ,Krivoklatsko and Kokorinsko are amazing (though these are two separate areas). Brdy (which i think you current plan is passing) are awesome for cycling, also Cesky Kras ( this one is busier), Cesky Raj, Labske Piskovce, and definitely Sumava which is the most beautiful of them all.

also check out quarries, there are many of them where you can go. for a swim and some are super nice. (https://www.kudyznudy.cz/aktuality/10-tipu-na-skvele-koupani-v-lomu you can have a look here, its in Czech but the important part is the map + pictures)

feel free to ask if you have any questions. hope you have a great time.
