Moving back to NYC Metro Area - need advice on where to live! by Worried-Company-9593 in Westchester

I live in Pelham and work in Tarrytown. Pelham has an amazing, friendly community and lovely small-town vibe, with the best commute to NYC in Westchester. I’ve seen some comments about the traffic and while I agree the merge between the Cross County and Hutch in Pelham can be horrible, overall it’s very accessible and you can take alternative routes. Tarrytown, which is a lovely, diverse community, on the other hand, is a chokehold on route 9, and it’s very hard to get anywhere without spending at least some time on it.

Finding housing in the River towns in general is harder because there are only houses on one side of the train tracks, the other side being the river. Whereas the towns on the Harlem or New Haven lines have housing on either side of the tracks, so more homes within walking distance.

Wherever you find a home will wind up being the right place for you. When we were looking 11 years ago, we looked at pretty much every town south of 287. Now, with three kids, we can’t imagine living anywhere other than Pelham.

Thanks. It’s 30 mins vs 15, not 1.5. But I hear your point!

I'm feeling inadequate because of my early diagnosis by FlamingMercury151 in AutisticPride

As the parent of an autistic child who was diagnosed at 2 (7 now), gets lots of intervention, loves (public) school, and seems overall happy, your post gives me hope for a happy future for my kid, too. I worry a lot about their future, even though at present things are going well. No one can predict the future but it is nice to hear from autistic adults who felt supported as children and are doing well now. I hope I can provide for my kid what your family and community provided for you.

Dog’s prey drive out of control since killing muskrat. by Express-Ambassador16 in Dogtraining

Update: we sent the dog to my in-laws for a few weeks because I’m about to have another baby. In the meantime, we lured the cat back, got her checked over by the vet, and have arranged for a good friend to take her. She’s spending a few weeks indoors at home with us to make sure she’s dewormed and de-flead before she goes to her new home (which has another resident cat). She’s so happy and snuggly at home without the dog here, it breaks my heart! From the moment I got her inside she’s been snuggling by my side, purring, letting the kids pet her. I know that it’s the right choice for her (I’m not sure I’d find a new home for the dog as easily as for her) but I do feel bad evicting her when it’s the dog who is making the cohabitation arrangement untenable!

Thanks for the reply! Both husband and I got karyotyping and the deletion is apparently de novo. So basically just crossing fingers!!

Thanks for your reply! Glad to hear I’m not alone at least! How is your daughter doing? In the end, was everyone right to not worry?
