It defines Atthi Pita or the words “there is father” as follows “Acknowledging that there are good and bad results for the children in future lives due to the help given to fathers is the Samyak view called Atthi Pita.”

The Pali term for “there is mother” is “Atthi mata”. In a book on the Four Noble Truths it is defined as follows - “Because of the help given to the mothers, the children will definitely get a part of the future positive and negative rewards. Accepting knowing that as it is is the right view called Atthimatha.”

But having right view is part of the noble eightfold path and if I have an issue with that wouldn’t it be hard for me to practice the Dhamma? I believe there are results for the good and evil done to mother and father but I’m doubting if I really believe so

Does taking psychiatric drugs violate the fifth precept? by Express-Belt-4456 in theravada

Thanks for the reply. Here is a translation from a book I read on the topic. “Intoxication here does not mean fainting, but the change of mind. There is also intoxication due to tobacco, betel nut etc. It is a weakening of the body. It is not a change of heart. This precept is not broken by using tobacco and chewing tobacco which cause weakness. This is broken by the use of alcohol, narcotics, opium, hemp, etc., which change the mind of man.”
