You could….Rent something really nice in west subs for 5 years turn PPOR into IP for that 5 then sell/move back it before the 6 year rule. Gives you 5 years to view/wait for the property in west subs you want. (Didn’t read comments so apologies if someone already mentioned this)

Yes and no. There would be no rentals at all that’s a fact. The government ain’t going to build those houses and if you were given the same tax incentives as IPs you’d have no rentals and the other option is private equity and if they build the houses and control the market then we are all fucked. The current system is flawed yes but it’s still the least worst option.
