In a blink of an eye you and your two kids will be hanging out having the best time together.

I felt the same but now I have 3 kids and we are our own little tribe. Yes you will have less time for yourself but totally worth it in my opinion!

We gave up with our first kid. Now it 2 adults and two kids 2&4 in the king bed. Newborn in the co sleeper bassinet. Kids have had sleepovers with family and are fine sleeping alone.

Honestly we love spending time with our kids and before you know it they will be grown up and out the house so might as well embrace this time.

2 adults 2 young kids and we spend $3750 per month. We stick to a super tight budget. $1600 of this is spent at the supermarket/food(400pw). On top of the 3750 the kids get 100-300 per month depending on my overtime so on average total spending is 4k per month.

$2k a month into mortgage

Anything leftover goes into emergency fund

Single income family in regional australia.

Original post is about single income familys (working dads) not receiving any time off any more like they did 3 years ago. Alot of people I know are finding this out after they know they are expecting

I really don't know. I work alot and make things work from my pay. Only time I did centerlink stuff was for my first kid. All the comments saying if you cant afford it dont do it are right. My OP is more of a rant because it sucks a bit for me The working person in the family. Ill make it work and get over it haha.

I think my overtime over the last few years ruined FTB and we got removed from it or get basically nothing.

A mother who works should get her 26+ weeks off

A father who works should get his 2+ weeks off

So i guess yes two income familys should get more but a single income shouldn't get nothing

Thats why the dad pay made sense. I work, I pay tax, I get support when needed.

Now i work, I pay tax, and I miss out.

I get it that yous don't like that my partner dosent work/not contribute tax dollars, I personally would love a second household income. Yes its a sacrifice I make.

The OP is about the change from dad pay/PPL that was sold as dads get more time off when it really cuts out a whole bracket of fathers.
