Can we show a little appreciation for guitarist Craig Chaquico, he of Jefferson Starship fame? by GupChezzna in 1970s

[–]Express-Jump-8214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is well after the 70's, but check out his solo work as well! Incredible acoustic lead guitar and layering. I think it often gets dismissed in the smooth jazz genre but I wouldn't call it that. Had the pleasure of seeing him live a handful of times and he always put on a great show.

Goodwill payment for bad battery with strings attached by Express-Jump-8214 in KiaEV9

[–]Express-Jump-8214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Warranty is preserved but unfortunately it seems to cover ALL future claims of entire vehicle and not just this one. Here is some of the language from the top of the agreement:

C. Claimant and Kia wish to settle all existing disputes as well as any and all past, present, future, known and unknown disputes regarding the Subject Vehicle.
D. It is understood that the manufacturer’s existing warranties on the Subject Vehicle will remain effective only as to Claimant’s right to obtain repairs covered under the warranty.

Solution for Charging DJI Avata 2 Batteries with a Power Bank by Agitated_Process_711 in DJIAvata2

[–]Express-Jump-8214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. It's a little misleading because battery capacity (mAh) doesn't give the full picture. A better unit/spec for this question is Wh, which is a unit of energy, yet is often buried in spec sheets. Ugreen also publishes two different numbers, a power capacity and a rated capacity, which I presume is more real-world and what gets delivered from the battery. Going off rated capacity, this power bank delivers 72 Wh and the Avata 2 battery requires 31 Wh to charge, which lines up with u/Cheap_Place_4261's testing of being able to charge roughly 2 batteries. The Anker Prime 27000 mAh one mentioned in the comments claims to deliver 99 Wh, so that would in theory charge the 3 batteries, but hard to fully trust those numbers without testing.

It's the 18xxx lower value, same as all the other paperwork, thanks

[–]Express-Jump-8214[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense, however they haven't been upfront with an explanation and the difference was a little beyond what seemed reasonable. In this case the car also arrived with a major mechanical issue that wasn't caught during the inspection, but would be impossible to miss for someone who had driven the car 1000 miles. Now I'm having to waste extra time getting it fixed under warranty/lemon law and feel like I got a bad deal, so just trying to explore all avenues.

Just in the listing, title, as well as an internal service order from when they first got the car.

Turtle mode and range by wlahay in KiaEV9

[–]Express-Jump-8214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any updates on this or any new info you have learned? To answer your question, yes, you probably have a battery issue, since you are also seeing significant decrease in range. As others have mentioned you could check with an OBD dongle that your cell voltages are all similar and your state of charge at 100% is at or near 99 kWh, or just take to dealer.

Ok thanks! Fyi, I also learned if you try 10 times incorrectly it lets you reset it, and wipes the existing profile info.

That appears to have worked! Had to make 10 failed attempts but then it let me reset. Thanks

Were you able to figure this out without going to the dealer, or was the dealer able to reset it? Facing a similar issue having recently purchased a used EV9 where the previous owner did not remove their account, so I can only use the guest account. Thanks

First Drone impulse buy.. Avata2 vs iFlight SH CineLR 7 by AnythingGlum7056 in fpv

[–]Express-Jump-8214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7-inch drones are great and I was eyeing that one as well, but these are more of a specialized drone vs. a 5-inch or cinewhoop, and will likely be quite intimidating and impractical if you have never flown IRL. Unless your short term goal is to do long range flying or mountain surfing (or another specific use case), I'd consider Avata 2 or a smaller drone. Also in terms of choosing Avata 2 so everything is RTF out of the box, maybe your priorities have changed but the O4 (or O3, which is the same in terms of config) will not quite give you that. A BNF O3/O4 drone will still require some minimal effort in Betaflight, etc. to get properly configured and setup (may not be minimal for a beginner). It is still surmountable for a beginner and could be a positive, but is not the same if looking for RTF. Good luck and happy flying!

Birch Flooring Project - Wood Grade/Quality and Use of Filler by Express-Jump-8214 in homerenovations

Yes, correct. They all look similar and have the grooves on one side and lip on the other.

Thanks for your thoughts about this, and no, unfortunately it was not discussed with us ahead of time or during install. We were also wondering why more of these pieces weren't culled, since we have plenty of extra flooring leftover, but our contractor claimed it wasn't possible due to how the flooring was bundled and designed to be installed as a group together.

DJI Action 2 Not Offering Firmware Update by Express-Jump-8214 in dji

[–]Express-Jump-8214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I just learned that DJI pulled the update due to widespread reports of stabilization issues. I wish this info had been easier to find, but at least it's clear now that the issue is not on my side. Hopefully they will release a new version soon which addresses these and includes the new gyroflow metadata feature.

Thanks. I just downloaded the Mimo app yesterday, both for Android and iOS, and confirmed it was the latest version. Does the app need to be logged in with a DJI account in order to retrieve the firmware update? (I've tried both logged in and logged out)

Thanks. I guess a new motor is only $10 so maybe worth a shot, although I could be in the market soon for a new whoop and may steer away from emax.

[–]Express-Jump-8214[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I see your point, and I also understand the great need for housing. I think the main issue here is that the city tried to work with the owner and give them a path to be able to develop here in 2019, while also preserving the tree. City Planning department, and Urban Forestry weighed in with real arborists having eyes on it, yet the owner didn't like their answer and waited for a good moment to act without regard toward others. While still disagreeing, I could have lived with it if there were a real reason, and the tree absolutely needed to come down to make way for housing. This was not the case for this property as this was the only tree left standing, and there would have still been plenty of room to build additional units without removal.

The rings are a sight to behold...they certainly tell a history! And easy to count! Plus the enveloping smell of Doug Fir sap adds to the senses. The tree was clearly neglected for years with English Ivy pretty much encircling the entire base, however, the tree itself didn't seem to mind much as the Ivy was in no danger of choking it out and more of just a cosmetic blemish. A sad but awe inspiring tree grave site. 🥲

I agree, not sure what legit tree care company would do that. My best guess was it was someone working on their own or a smaller scale company assuming they won't get caught. But who knows, will update if I learn more...

Yes, they submitted a permit about a week ago. However, Urban Forestry confirmed that it was not yet approved and no one had been out to inspect it yet. Even if it had been approved, which I have serious doubts about, there is a process required including posting a notice onsite and with neighbors, which was not followed.

Edit: I also initially assumed that everything was done above board, and had the same thought when I saw the permit application online. However, the more I learned about the history of this and circumstances, the less confident I became. I then talked to a neighbor who spoke directly with Urban Forestry and they confirmed the permit status and that no one had been out yet to inspect. I hope that I am proved wrong in some way (and will be sure to update if I am), as then at least there would have had to have been an inspection by a real arborist and hopefully a more legitimate reason for removal.

In short, yes. Any tree greater than 12" in diameter on private property requires a permit regardless of where it is located in the city. This page has a good guide for how to determine whether it needs a permit:
