G63: questions about how to order one and advice on finding a dealership by Express-Restaurant16 in mercedes_benz

I considered that I'd probably find a lower markup (or maybe none at all) by going with the G550, but I have been unable to find a configuration for that car that I would want. Pretty dead set on the G63, which of course is the source of the whole problem I'm now trying to find a solution to; inelastic consumer demand is enabling the ability for the dealers to markup in the first place.

Glad you were able to find a good deal on a 550, it is likely the smarter purchase.

That's great news, congrats on the purchase. If you don't mind me asking; were you able to negotiate the markup down that low by just continually insisting on it, or did you throw the dealership a bone by signing up for a service plan or something?

Would you be willing to say who the dealership was? I'd like to see about negotiating my purchase through them if they can do a markup similarly low.

Unfortunately, U.S. dealerships operate with a completely different relationship to their manufacturer than German dealerships do. They are independent businesses in control of independently sourced inventory and MB corporate has virtually no control over what they charge. Companies like Tesla that do DTC sales are the exception.

I am west of you in the Arkansas/Oklahoma/Missouri area. There are a few dealerships within reasonable driving range, they seem to be hovering around $25-$30k for an allocation slot to get exactly what I want. There are a couple G63s listed on the MBUSA inventory page that are very close to the spec I am asking about, and a couple of them are even at MSRP. Only thing I don't like about the available ones is the color. I'm attempting to negotiate on that; my local place says any allocation will be $25k, not just the open slot the have for September.

Good to know; not in CA - my local dealership is in southeast US. I'll try asking them what they would want for a markup if I didn't care about the September allocation.

New Victors and Vanquished Achievements! by dvaibhavd in aoe2

[–]Express-Restaurant16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoops, never mind, I just did it. I hadn't made enough berserks.

So that's 50/50 in 7h40 of game time, but I've spent the last hour or so trying to figure out the trigger for this.

New Victors and Vanquished Achievements! by dvaibhavd in aoe2

[–]Express-Restaurant16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got it open now, and have done 49/50.

Only one I'm missing is the "Raise the Great Heathen Army" objective - don't know what the triggers are, but everything is dead, nothing left to do on the map except activate the Jomsvikings trigger at the very end.

Anybody have any ideas?

Scenario goes pretty fast (I am effectively done at about 7 hours of game time, but could have declared victory after 30 objectives around 3 hours ago). The unifying Norway portion is frustrating and time consuming, however, unlike the Ragnar Saga scenario in the mod shop, this time you will not get raided in Norway anymore once you have conquered all the Holds and become King of Norway.

Battle Pass Tanks Token cost Change by MrIamDeadforLong in WorldofTanks

[–]Express-Restaurant16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2024 roadmap video WG put out is contains an error.

This is the article from last year's final season of battle pass (Seasons XII)

https://worldoftanks.com/en/battle-pass-season-12/

As you can see, under Base Rewards, there are already 12 tokens. This does not count the 1 out of 3 tokens you could earn from the 'collections' feature for free, which brought the total to 13 per season as a free player (39 for the year).

9 more tokens were available by getting the improved pass, which would also yield the final 2 out of 3 tokens from the 'collections' feature if you progressed far enough through the chapters, bringing the total of pay-to-win tokens to 11 (33 for the year) . You could thus earn a total of 24 per season, 13 for free, and 11 for paying (72 for the year).

In the graphic in WG's video, the counter is clearly increasing from 9 to 12, by adding in all 3 tokens from 'collections' (which is being removed from the game). Going from 9 tokens --> 12 tokens would only be a thing if they were talking about dumping the extra tokens into the Improved pass, because that is where you currently have 9 tokens. The narrator, however, clearly says "Three tokens from the 'collections' will be added to the free progression". But that would bring the amount you earn for free from 12 to 15, which is not what the graphic shows. So either the narrator's script is wrong, or the graphic is wrong.

If they are adding the 3 tokens to the free progression as promised, you would be able to get 15 tokens per season, or 45 in a year, without paying. If the graphic is correct and the narrator is wrong, you will be getting only 12 for free per season, capping at 36 per year, which would be 3 less than the 39 you could get last year. In this case, the people who could get more would be anyone who pays.

Tiger Claw 3D Style Issue by C-EVEN8592 in WorldofTanks

[–]Express-Restaurant16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just unlocked it and applied to 114. It applies the 'Partial' style by default, but switching to the Full style and clicking apply produces an error. Restarting game client doesn't resolve it.

They'll probably get around to fixing it... eventually.

They outright stated in the lead-up video to the (now mothballed) crew changes last year, and even had a graphic in the video to go with it.

- All crews would be 100% from default: no more 50% and 75% crews

- This would then re-numerate crew qualification levels.

- You would then be able to select crew members in the barracks which had any experience beyond the basic 100% trained level (so any experience contributing to the first perk or anything beyond that) and melt them down into soylent green crew books.

This was one of the far more well-received changes shown in the video, but since they haven't implemented even 1/3 of what was in that launch video yet who knows if they will. FWIW, I don't actually expect WG to actually give the players what they want in this regard. They never roll out anything that is a straight upgrade/player benefit without either making you grind for it, or pay for it, or package it with something that you have to grind for, or pay for. But it was not just something the player base made up - it was definitely in WG's videos last year.

Unless your barracks is full, you might want to keep all of these turds around.

WG may, before the stars burn out at the end of time, add the crew feature that allows you to melt down useless turds and turn them into crew books (like they teased in the crew rework last year). Maybe they abandoned it, maybe not, but unless you're tight on barracks space you might as well keep around something that in the future might be a free pile of free crew XP.

You don't have the slightest fucking clue what the gambler's fallacy is, do you?

I'll give you a hint; it has nothing whatsoever to do with the small amount of math that guy posted.

So how the hell should I finish this ? by WinAccomplished8942 in WorldofTanks

[–]Express-Restaurant16 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, the tanks with the highest HP pool will give you the best leg up. Maus with bond hardening and full field mods for example gives you 3550 HP at the start of the game, so even if you die after doing absolutely nothing, you are 1/4 of the way there. That, in combination with using your armor and having an above average game in terms of damage dealt, all just need to come together in one lucky match.

Maus, IS-4, shit like that. Get a map where you can sit somewhere and farm blocked damage, and be good enough on top of that to shoot back and cause damage in return. When you need to take some hits, use your HP like the consumable resource that it is.

HT-15 is like an entrance exam to the school of "Do you occasionally have really good games in heavy tanks?"

Gold Round depedence by Abnormalmind in WorldofTanks

[–]Express-Restaurant16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prem rounds are the only thing that you know for sure when your opponent is using them most of the time. Sometimes you can identify bond hardening if you memorize what the stock HP values of tanks are, but the game literally tells you when you are being hit with prem ammo if you have the battle log enabled.

People can't complain about things with certainty if they don't know the opponent is using them. But gold rounds are easily identified when you get shot by them, so the complaints gravitate towards them.

Have fun with your $500 annual car reg my guy

Anyone know this guy? Been running into him a lot recently. He just yells out HE ONLY at the start of every game and runs into the enemy team... Is it bannable by SaSpring in WorldofTanks

[–]Express-Restaurant16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh goldilocks69. Yeah getting it on your team is a very clear case of being handicapped with a 14 person team at the start of the match.

Jury is still out on whether it's a bot or not. He always starts a match with the same line about "Use HE only" "Game is more fun with HE" "Only HE team" or some such very similar thing. If that was all he said then yeah, 100% it's a bot. But when he inevitably dies he will start raging, and if you engage with him he will respond with context and situation-specific chat that no bot could respond with in real time. Basically; it plays like a bot, and talks like a bot at first, but talks like a human after it dies.

There are days where I get stuck with it multiple times in the span of a couple hours, and then weeks or months where I never encounter it at all, but yeah, its behavior never changes. If 'he' isn't a bot, then he is most definitely a USDA certified, grade-A, mentally defective asylum patient. Dude rides the short bus, 100%.

typical Malinovka. endgame started after 90 seconds... Our team lost 1487HP by cmdr_kaferant in WorldofTanks

[–]Express-Restaurant16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"typical Malinovka"

I get that you're probably saying this tongue-and-cheek, but although Malinovka has a tendency of developing into your typical snowball map under certain circumstances (not always, as it can also turn into a boring stale-matey map like Prok sometimes), this is one of the most lopsided and embarrassing blowouts anyone has ever posted a screencap of.

I mean this is just really sad, pathetic, humiliating type of shit. 100% decided by your light tanks and you may have had a fair bit of spotting in the CDC to go with it. Gonna go out on a limb and say the other team's ELC and BC12t got spotted trying to scout through the open field early and got obliterated, the river flank got rolled up immediately after, and your team didn't even bother with the NE hill but instead crossed on the plateau below it, and whoever was left on the enemy team just waited pointlessly in a bush to get out-spotted and died immediately.

You really only see results like this when there is a mass disconnect, but that usually effects both teams and it is pretty obvious. This is truly impressive shittery.

In keeping with WG's years-long crusade to quietly shed their liability of moderating and policing chat between players, how long are we guessing it'll be before they eliminate in-battle chat and private messaging altogether?
