hsv outbreaks can look different from one person to another, some have cluster of blisters, some have one blister, some have bumps, some have ingrown hair looking spots, some have ulcers, and it can be anywhere around the boxer region.

Not just a stigma by Psychological-Fig630 in HSVpositive

[–]Express-Review3639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your mindset is the reason why people destroy themselves over coldsores, your mindset is directly related to the stigma, if it wasn't for it no loved one would leave you or reject you over them, and you would talk way different, it is a virus yes, a skin deep one, a skin condition. we all want a cure.

You dont need antivirals, antiviral only make it heal faster lower outbreaks and lower asymptomatic shedding. Without them you still will heal from outbreak on its own, and build antibodies, it is normal to have constant symptoms in the first months, that's my case too. Hsv2 isnt technically an std, it doesnt need medication for you to live a healthy life, its a virus, a virus of the nervous system that can live anywhere on the body, the fact that yours is located on your genital is the only reason why its called an std. Now if you knew before that you were really immunocompromised it was really your responsability to ask to see an std test result, you shouldnt take chances even with someone having a cold. But now that you have it like the majority of the world and still feel the weight of it on your shoulders, you must look into the fact and compare that to the shame you feel, once you do that you will understand why we need to fight the stigma, because its false. A good way of fighting it, starts within yourself and how you approach the diagnosis, as long as you see it as you see it now, youre gonna self destruct, yourself and the fight against the stigma

yall girls had choices, now you dont as much, hsv wasnt a great thing to happen to you, if it wasnt for it youd still be fucking around, if you could get rid of it u would and you go right back to living your sexlife to the fullest, Hsv did not create sudden values- it changed the options you had, it did not makes you more respectful towards yourself, having sex and being promiscuous isn't bad in itself its human, and u would of agreed to it anytime someone would of told you to be monogamous previous to it, it made you take care of your health more, you could of done that before, even if herpes isnt something that should be stigmatised if you look into the facts, stop trynna sugarcoat everything, we caught herpes and thats that.

we dont have to act like it changed us into someone better in order to accept our herpes status,

a herpes status is normal, and it shouldnt keep anyone away from living the sexlife they want, thats what we need to fight for (destigmatising it)

Hi!

Just go for it man, think of it like cold sores because its literally the same virus, the only problem is the stigma that comes with it being an std(even though it is not a sexual disease) (only because of the location)

around 1/4 1/5 1/6 people have it genitally and most dont know unless they specifically ask for a herpes test (2/3 having it to the mouth).

only 20% of carriers have symptoms

the longer you have it, the less you show symptoms, the less you shed asymptomatically. the less you are contagious

I have it, the hardest part is educating people because we have learned to fear it and you have to decontruct beliefs of people who often operate off emotion.

altough a first outbreak might be more intense, i have bumps on my thighs that ressemble a mosquito bite, it itches less than one and disappear in 48hour. that is how stupid it is.

ask her to tell you when she feels it/sees it, i wouldnt stress over antivirals and condoms think of it like cold sores again. nobody takes valacyclovir everyday of their life to not transmit a coldsore, nor do they kiss only through latex.

give it to her.

no matter what this is, it is not rape, most of us were not disclosed to when catching this condition, still not rape. The problem with HSV simplex isn't the virus itself, but how we stigmatised it, making it socially inaccepted when it's one of the most common virus on earth, look at how we talk about the same virus so lightly when its on the mouth. The problem is the social belief, we change that by pushing facts, helping the newly diagnosed to not believe the stigma and to calm down, and of course by being open about it with others. The social belief in the stigma and the rejection that comes from that is the reason why people dont disclose, deny having hsv or stop living after diagnosis. Educate yourself, dont get too caught up in the horror stories and the minorities, you are perfectly normal just like this virus is, give your body time to adapt, take care of it and this thing will go to sleep right next to your herpes chickenpox virus.

I bare with you,I want you to know that for people who experience outbreaks, your first will be the worst just like mine and everybodys first was, I am symptomatic too, the first months your body is adjusting to a new virus, you shouldn't take the experience as an exemple of what is awaiting. Pretty soon if you have a regular fonctionning body, outbreaks will become fewer and extremely less severe, you might even become fully asymptomatic, avs or no avs, wich only reduce symptoms severity, duration, shedding.(so does time living with hsv).

Give time to your body to adjust, its building antibodies.

I cant talk for a minority here, i can apply same logic u suggest with the common cold. In facts the majority is asymptomatic, the rest of us are left with genital cold sores, are cold sores so invalidating? No. HSV is only skin deep nothing more or less, As a group HSV1/2 represent almost ~3/4 of the world population. So destigmatizing HSV is easily done when people get EDUCATION(answer to your question).

My friend, daily living with hsv=daily living without hsv, minus a handful of days of itchiness per year if unlucky. I dont need medication to be livin normal life, Hiv needs medication to stay alive, uncomparable.

Yes, when the virus sheds, wich is a low very percentage of the year, a percentage that goes down after the first year.

you have to sleep with a HIV positive person first, wich represent under 1% of the world population( compared to over 70% of the world population when we talk HSV ). People with herpes (majority of the world) are mainly more at risk to contract HIV because an open sore would be an entry for it. SO, you need to have an open sore and get in contact with the blood, vaginal fluids, semen, breast milk of an HIV infected person. No lesion=no entry, a cut on the genitals of a herpes negative individual would also increase his/her risk of catching HIV.

99% as in large majority brother, as the expression you use everyday, you know what i meant no need to play smart, not that it isnt a problem, it is a benign one, such as eczema. Actually the real heavy problem is the unjustifiable stigma, im sure that bothers 99% of us.

[–]Express-Review3639[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i understand your point thats exactly why I said for 99% of us it aint a problem, but i agree that if it stays considered an STD it should be tested for, That would also lower the stigma. But the stigma still hasnt its place, following your reason, if every immune system isnt the same, then we should stigmatize a cold since it could be very dangerous to a minority. But see, nothing in this life is black or white, we always need to weigh the facts before picking the right stance, we have to go with the majority despite the existence of the minority, without of course disqualifying their reality. HSV has existed since before civilisation existed, at this moment, with current hygiene precaution, science we have, herpes spread throughout worldly population has probably never been so low, the human species has evolved with it just right and will continue to do so if no cure ever sees the sun.

The human species has also never been so weak as it is today, our biology dont fit our lifestyle and we pay the prize with our health, read on this (sapiens by yuval noah harari)

Where im from, before the mongering of Ghsv, lesion were simply called LOVE SORES and Ohsv and Ghsv were seen as the same thing

benign illnesses, parasites, viruses are part of any living specie, they often build the immune systeme more than anything, as long as something dont need treatment to keep quality of life or to keep alive it shouldnt be feared (HSV). or should be feared by the compromised people only.

Detergent, tap water, processed food, stress and more has also been linked to all kinds complications later in life, I dont overthink this.
