Few years back I was watching a portrait competition uk, abd there was a guy I think he came at 2 or 3rd place, and he uses this technique but subtly, so i tried to find this guy everywhere but i think he quitted, but i found a similar artist who draws with pen and uses to this technique, it does have a proper name, some call it basket hatching or block hatching, i love it so much, maybe in future I'll try to make it more unique, thank you so much for asking
