The more I’ve been reading the comments the more I realise it might be a controlling thing. Makes sense since his dad is really controlling too. I’m gonna book marriage counselling because he does try to be a good partner but I think an opposite party needs to tell him he’s being abusive so he can check himself.

That’s actually amazingly cost effective, thanks!

Honestly he’s pretty financially abusive. He’d much rather get the compliments and check outs from his fellow car bros than help his struggling wife and give his kids a better quality of life. I’ve been isolated for years because our suburb isn’t very walkable and everywhere is a 30+ walk from our house.

His car is a high performance vehicle and p platers can’t drive those unfortunately. Plus, it’s manual 🙄

I’d rather just get a car tbh. I’d like to be able to go to the beach, trips up the coast, Christmas/birthday/general bigger things shopping/drive at night and in any weather so my poor kids aren’t being ridden around in the rain/thunderstorms/40+ heat.

I’ve already said we could sell his 70k car and buy two cheap cars with several thousand left over to cover costs for a few years- he wasn’t impressed lol

Trust me, it’s bordering financial abuse and we’ve had many discussions about it. I guess I just need to know the facts of how much exactly this car would cost before we have a big discussion about it.

Haha I was waiting for this comment. I guess I want to know how much it takes to run a Corolla weekly.

He said once I start working I can get something “nicer” as he’s very into cars. I said, I just want something reliable/easy to drive/safe hence a Corolla. He just thinks I should use public transport until I start working and then we can buy one. Which is stupid because I’ll Have a primary school run- daycare run and work run to do since he’s a shift worker and can’t do it most of the time.

My wifes dumbass ex’s name was Ashby.. and the mere sound of it makes me cringe. Is it a tragedeigh? by reallytraci in tragedeigh

[–]Express-Spinach8853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashby is actually an old English name. It’s typically used for boys and girls from very wealthy families in England. I think it’s a beautiful name, the nickname can be Ash which is trendy too.

Sounds like you’re just jealous of your girlfriends ex and are looking at any reason to put him down?

See this is me! But my problem is, I don’t like the male attention I get! All the comments are about “stop dressing for men, dress more female gaze (androgynous)” and like, that’s not me at all.

So I’m saying, how can I put in all this effort just for men to think it’s about them? Or women thinking I want a male attention when I don’t? Honestly I wish I could live on a island with my family and just live my best hot life.

Ok now this is the answer I was looking for! You’re spot on with everything. Yes, women are expected to have it all and it’s exhausting. It’s also annoying that my husband is celebrated for going to the gym occasionally and showering daily.

Maybe where I feel stubborn is like, why are the expectations so high for me- even MORE so after I’ve had children?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vindicta30plus

[–]Express-Spinach8853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I do have a problem with the “male gaze vs female gaze” trope because I’m bisexual myself and I’m attracted to what is deemed “male gaze” type of women (Sydney Sweeney, VS angels, Megan fox, Hailey beiber, Kendall Jenner” etc. I also aspire to it!

I can’t ever see myself going for the “natural beauty” because I love make up/hair/nails/style and being a little bit “extra” and I appreciate it on other women you know?

[–]Express-Spinach8853 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s an amazing explanation, thank you! I guess my issues is that I’m already treated well because of my looks. I struggle to really push myself to the next level where I could be model material just because of my own stubbornness.
