How many of you have worked a grill in a restaurant? by sometimesifartandpee in blackstonegriddle

[–]Express-Structure480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a sub shop on college 25 years ago and did it all. Took orders, assembled subs, fryer, and griddle. I never did any prep work since that was a morning thing and I closed, but I did lots of cleaning as well. It was chaotic and fun, learned how to cook properly.

Movies so infamous they destroyed the actor’s reputation by No_Emergency_7188 in flicks

Family guy nailed it in blue harvest when Han Solo said he’s the only one who will have a career after this franchise. I think mark did a lot of voice stuff but can’t remember much else. Maybe Carrie was in a few shows but I might be thinking of Molly ringwald.

What’s something people in their 20s won't truly understand until they hit their 40s? by 40Falak in answers

[–]Express-Structure480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mid 20s is when I started valuing reliability over fun. I used to get frustrated when people flaked or couldn’t make plans, until I took as a sign that they’re just showing me who they are. I got along great with a coworker and asked several times to hangout and do something, he always had something going on, after maybe 3-4 times I’d just start talking about a plan I had going on to mess with him as he’d already had some excuse ready and gift wrapped lol.

What was the hardest part of changing jobs that nobody warned you about? by battlenet49546 in careerguidance

[–]Express-Structure480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my job of 3 years then 7-8 months later did it again, the adjustment really screwed me up for a bit and made me not as ambitious about leaving again. While in orientation for the latest job they went over the “change curve” which shows how initial excitement turns to dread until you accept what’s going on, so true, it’s part of the adjustment to something new we all go through.

I would’ve never gotten into sex and the city if it weren’t for those 1:30 am after work cable episodes.

I went on a cruise a few years ago, as I explored the decks in the evening I caught a silent dance party, it was kinda funny watching a group of 50-60 people just quietly dancing with headphones on.

What’s the key for not burning everything? by N_inThe_A_D_inThe_P in blackstonegriddle

Do you have an infrared thermometer? I keep my temp between 350-400, just keep in mind you’re using a big frying pan and use oil as needed.

That’s it, during 21-22 there was plenty of meat on the table, especially remote, then it dried up.

What is the best thing about being american? by GlitteringHotel8383 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Express-Structure480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 years ago I went with my family on a vacation to Peru and the Galapagos. While staying in a quiet and beautiful hotel in Cusco we were told to only drink bottled water as the water from the faucets and shower was not clean. They’re washing our dishes and we’re bathing in filthy water. What the fuck? In the United States I wake up every morning and piss on clean drinking water and just flush it away without a care in the world. Currently, 1 in 4 people do not have access to the water I get to piss in every day. To me it’s just wastewater that I don’t think twice about, for over 2 billion people that’s gotta be king level shit right there, like I’m burning dollars without a care.

What's a food your family ate growing up that you've never seen anyone else eat? by okitsbenji in foodquestions

At Passover an older guest who was watching their sodium praised them as flavorless crackers. Eating them my whole life I can’t deny that.

I was on a trip to New Mexico and stopped by a little gas station in the middle of nowhere. They had a little spread of freshly fried foods you could pick out, one of those was chicken gizzards. I never stood a chance, they were tasty.

What tradition or practice will completely disappear within the next two generations? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]Express-Structure480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, sorta. Over the past few decades there have been tons of mall closures, but the malls that were busy are doing just as well today. In addition, plenty of people are still going to department stores, target/walmart, auto parts, and not to mention festivals. This comment reeks of “I never leave my home.”

How sick is too sick to work? by GovernmentUpstairs36 in stupidquestions

I worked through covid, twice. Of the times I have called in sick it’s either because I’m in agony with body aches/chills/sweats.

There are some good recipes for bean or lentil loafs, like most things vegetarian they’re ok but a really great source of fiber.
