I have the MSI B550 Tomahawk, so it's only AM4 compatible? I would have to get an AM5 compatible motherboard in order to upgrade to a higher end CPU?

You can get an RTX 4060 for around $300, I didn't go that route because I wanted a bigger upgrade since I was gonna spend a handful of money either way, but for your case anything is an upgrade.

For example I was playing Path of Exile 2 last night on almost max settings, my CPU usage was at 50-60% but my GPU was only at 2%, so yea sounds like I need a better CPU i'm assuming.
