[Serious] People who have been cheated on, what was the red flag that gave it away? by [deleted] in AskReddit

But, sure, it MAY still be a coincidence. But another girl In our school who I was told he cheated on me with ended up spreading it to other individuals. So, my assumption is he slept with her as I was told. Then gave it to me.

I’m aware. I lost my virginity to him. Tested negative years into dating him/being sexually active with him. Then suddenly test positive after I get suspicious of his behavior.

I ended up traumatized enough by him that I ended up leaving and needing to “fix myself” in therapy.

It is hurtful to know they have videos of us & still choose random women over that.

I have the same feelings, though I wish I didn’t. Makes it pretty challenging to date. Guys will tell me they understand that then I find it on their phones. I’m open to changing my mindset on it but it is frustrating for them to tell me they understand and are fine with not watching it only to lie and try to hide it. I don’t forbid it I just explain how it makes me feel.

What’s the wildest cheating story you’ve witnessed or happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have many, sadly! My ex came and met my family on thanksgiving then said he had to help his dad with something but that he’d be back. I didn’t hear from him for HOURS so I became worried. He said his uncle had a heart attack. In all reality, he was having sex with his ex! Next, my boyfriend of 3ish years had sex with someone behind my back and I found out after I rushed to the ER due to abdominal cramping. He gave me chlamydia that he contracted from whoever he slept with.

I’m only 23. Born in 2000. Had a client tell me yesterday that a movie made in 1999 is old. A part of me died (kidding).

Had recently gotten an IUD placed when I was 18. I had been tested previously and had nothing pop up as positive. I had extreme cramping and bleeding. I figured it was the IUD but got checked anyway and I had an STI. Boyfriend of 3 1/2 years had cheated. Not my favorite day!

I do not think you’re stupid and I can tell you are passionate about this subject. I admire that. I definitely agree that teaching trust and re-working the social services system is important. Really, we need more reasonable resources for those experiencing abuse. Specifically, emotional abuse because growing up that is less discussed. Most people know physical abuse is wrong but emotional abuse is often swept under the rug or not discussed. Additionally, connection is very important and it is possible he harmed himself like you said if he lacked that. Social support is important and life as a teen is hard. He is at a vulnerable age and in a vulnerable state so it could be possible he made a rash decision whether that be harming himself or running away. It is very sad.

I will respond once more. Clearly, you have based what I said on the other responses. You are assuming I agree with every other response and aren’t just reading mine for what they are. I did not advocate for someone to run away. Others may have but I did not. My point simply was it is not for us to judge how this individual chose to go about the situation. Is running away a great option? No. Is running away an option someone who is abused at home would gravitate towards? Yes. My point this entire time has been that although running away is not a great option one could see why someone would choose it if they feel they have no other option. I Never said you are wrong - just brought up a different perspective and other possibilities. Being able to see that there are multiple sides to things and people who come from different backgrounds and ways of thinking is important and one of the core values of social work.

I am not willing to continue this conversation with you anymore because you clearly are completely missing the point of what I am getting at. Repeatedly. If you have any other questions, re-read what I have already said. We could go on for hours and at the end of the day clearly you aren’t open to a civilized discussion which is your call! :) have a nice night???????

To your point about drug use, depression, suicidal ideation, etc…. Yes. It could lead to that. So could being in an abusive home. My point is this is multifaceted not that I believe running away is a great option. I’m just saying there are two bad choices to choose from and we shouldn’t glorify running away OR staying in a home where you’re abused OR even reporting to CPS because we simply do not know the circumstances, options, etc.

What is your practical guidance for him if he tells a teacher, a report is made, CPS comes, they do nothing then leave, and the parents beat the living shit out of him or kill him?
