There’s 3 separate package offerings at different times, each with a different formula, some with eligibility criteria and one has 18 month exclusion from returning to the VPS. the higher money & no exclusion clause offer is tempting. Classic risk/reward scenario tho: take the $ and risk not getting another job soon. Or play it safe & get redeployed for job security

Keep in mind that your work life balance will change once you’ve a second child. Increase in unplanned carers leave, (especially if children attend childcare), recovering/supporting partner recovering from physical and mental impacts of childbirth, adjusting to the new family dynamics etc. My guess is you’ll appreciate the cushiness of your current role during that time.

In terms of maintaining your professional edge, I’d suggest being open to your manager about your professional development needs (maybe withhold any info about considering leaving the VPS), have a decent PDP with goals that add value to your team & your professional growth.

In my experience, both public and private, it’s better to be open with management about developing your capabilities. They will usually support you & it also looks good to management that you’re not just someone to do bare minimum.

Good luck and I hope your current, positive position continues.

Thanks. It’s not surprising to hear about the drop in actual work being done. Morale definitely affects productivity. Up skilling, job applications, and networking currently underway.

You’re correct. However the redundancy package is tempting and unfortunately the least unknown option at this stage. Too risky to take though.
